Well, I was kind of hoping to see Daniel Day-Lewis get this role, but I suppose Jared Harris will do just fine. Even in that picture of him in Mad Men he seems like a James Moriarty type. It's Sherlock Holmes, so the movie will be good anyway. :D

After nearly a year of speculation it seems that Professor Moriarty has been found for Warner Bros. Pictures' Sherlock Holmes sequel. The rumors have been flying on this topic even before the first installment hit theaters last Christmas, with reports surfacing that director Guy Ritchie and lead star Robert Downey Jr. were fighting for Brad Pitt to get the role. Flash forward a few months later to right around Comic-Con and it looked like the helmer wanted Daniel Day Lewis for the job.
Apparently, that wish didn't come to fruition because LatinoReview reports that the studio and producers have entered negotiations for thespian Jared Harris ("Mad Men") to take on the role of Holmes' arch nemesis. And the trades have confirmed Harris' casting.
The Moriarty character briefly appeared in the franchise's first outing last year, but his face was never revealed. The character will serve as the main villain in the sequel while Robert Downey Jr. returns as Holmes, pairing up with Jude Law again as Dr. John Watson. Casting is well underway on the next installment, with Noomi Rapace playing the female lead in her first English role, and Stephen Fry recently cast as Holmes' brother.
Sherlock Holmes 2 will hit theaters December 16, 2011.

There is a solid cast fo rthis one I will go to the theaters to see it
Yeah what happened to Brad Pitt, I was kind looking forward to him playing that kind of role.
Can't wait for the sequel! I hate seeing Mad Men references for a series that is completely boring and overrated.
Lookin forward to SH2... one thing... tone down the CGI man... it isn't needed for Holmes.
Thanks ppooii, I really needed a new bikini, UGG boots and NFL jersey for the game this weekend.
So Rachel McAdams won't be back, aww man.
