I don't know I didn't think it looks too bad. I wouldn't mind seeing more coverage of it.

I thi k this looks a million times better tha Host or Beautiful Creatures both of which sucked big time.

I'm just not a fan of that guy the one that played King Arthur in Camelot.

VTGamehendge 6/8/2013 10:47:39 AM

Well, with a director with those kinds of credentials (Pink Panther 2 and Agent Cody Banks) how could this not be epic?

VTGamehendge 6/8/2013 10:50:21 AM

Movie of the year!

The trailer alone has more action in it that either Beautiful Creatures or The Host in their entirety.

"A girl discovers she is “special” and then her parents get into trouble." Which is the plot of neither Twilight, the Host, or Beautiful Creatures. It is what happens in Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, but I assume those don't merit mention in relation to this movie, because this movie is about a girl and so has a terrible case of GIRL COOTIES, while those are about boys and so are a-okay despite also having Hot Topic merch.

Personally, I'd like to see coverage of the film, because there are a lot of actors I like in it. Harald Zwart has done some sucky films but his Karate Kid was quite good. But I'm not that interested in seeing coverage that boils down to I HATE GIRLS, YOU HATE GIRLS, MOVIES WITH TEEN GIRL MAIN CHARACTERS ARE AUTOMATICALLY TWILIGHT, AMIRITE DUDES? I mean, seriously, period jokes in the comments? Are you people nine?

Wiseguy 6/8/2013 12:06:33 PM

Excuse jedibanner, he has no respect for women at all.

As far as the Host and BC comparison yes it's merited because of the leads.  Too often female leads in film become a little too channeled to attract female tweens, usually with a corny love story. Nothing wrong with it except it becomes the pricipal plot of the story

An interview with the author, director and or protagonist about the twilight comparisons might shed a lot of light on the divisiveness within genre fans.  It does look to have a lot of action, and has a visual style last seen in the Percy Jackson movies.  I'll take my teen.

I've read the first book and, although it's feels a little too informed from the sci-fi genre. And the chapters seemed to play like a standard  tentpole summer movie, which also detracted from the story. I haven't read the rest of the books and I don't know if I will or not.
