Mortal Kombat: Legacy hits the web(2011).
© Warner Bros. Digital Distribution

Warner Bros. Digital Distribution and Machinima.com continue with their weekly roll out of the new 9-part web series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy. The fourth episode, titled "Kitana & Mileena (Part 1)," has been unleashed online and can be watched in the video player down below. You can also watch the previous three episodes here, here and here.

Michael Jai White plays Major Jackson 'Jax' Briggs, Jeri Ryan ("Star Trek: Voyager") is Sonya Blade and Darren Shahlavi (300) is Kano. Director Kevin Tancharoen led the production, based on a script he wrote with Aaron Helbing and Todd Helbing.

Plot Concept: Beautiful, athletic, and trained as highly skilled assassins, Kitana (Samantha Tjhia) and Mileena (Jolene Tran) have grown up thinking that they are sisters. Shao Kahn (Aleks Paunovic), Emperor of the Outworld, has tricked Shang Tsung (Johnson Phan) into becoming his servant for Mortal Kombat by making him clone Mileena as a Tarkatan clone of Kitana, out of Shao Kahn's fear that Kitana wouldn't love him enough if she ever found out the truth about her Mother and Father.

Thanks to raa2001 for the submission.

I'm not sure I liked the way they mixed the live action with the animation in this one.  If it had been consistent throughout I may have liked it more but it felt very disjointed with parts all animated, others all live action, and others mixed.  The story was alright.  I think I liked the Baraca they had in the original short better.

I want to know where is my Comicscape

ddiaz28 I got the exact same feeling when I watched this. It felt oddly cheaper than the other three (even though I'm sure the animation wasn't cheap), but if they had used this style in the others I would've liked it well enough, but its like they were going Batman Begins on us, and the threw in Mr. Freeze out of no where! I get that Outworld can be set apart better with this style, but the freeze frame from the Johnny Cage episode was fine to introduce the mystical elements of the series, but its like they dove headlong into it with this one, instead of the slow build that would've ultimately been more satisfying. Here's hoping for the Part 2 of this one...

I liked the reality based Baraka, a serial killer. This baraka reminded me of the Orcs in Lord of the Rings. I thought Outworld would not play in this series but there has to be a threat in losing Mortal Kombat or there would be no motivation for the charaters to need to win the tounament. Cant wait to see Scorpion and Sub Zero they are my favorite characters.

The first 2 episodes were good - familiar faces and all.

The 3rd episode was alright - Johnny Cage a Power Ranger was kind of funny.

But this one is starting to lose me - via the quality of the work. Hopefully they will get my attention on the next episode or I will be done with this.

This was the weakest of the bunch but Kitana isn't that interesting of a character anyway.  I look forward to Raiden, Sub Zero and Scorpion.  I assumed they couldn't completely ignore the mystical elements, it's mortal kombat, which at it's heart is a fantasy based story.  I look forward to the next one.

. It seems like they were doing a kill billish type of animation from pt 1. But it was definitely one of the weakest episodes. Look forward to sub-zero and scorpion! Oh and did anyone else thought that queen sindel looked like snow white? lol.

And so this does not follow the story of game. They also do the Sylvester Stallone/Judge Dredd thing with Shao Khan; he never takes his helmet off in the games, but his movie counterparts do. :P

Funny how you all think the horribly written, unintelligibly reimagined crap that was the first three episodes was good, but the first episode that actually follows the games' story receives nothing but complaints.

Krathwardroid - this follows everything that was explained in the stories for Mortal Kombat 2 and 3 for Kitana and Mileena (even down to Kitana's father's name), so it's a bit odd that you would say this doesn't follow the story.

Indeed it was poorly done, just like the other three, but it at least gets back to the Mortal Kombat world that we all know and love. I'm just fully relieved that they presented Baraka the way he really is (cheesy-looking as he was) instead of that stupid surgeon-turned serial killer with telescoping butter knives tied to his arms.

Reminds me of those animated pieces used to promote I Am Legend.
