R U kidding! ZOD. Out of all the villians that could challenge supes with, they're looking at ZOD?

Superman needs an epic, cosmos travelling arc with space battles, alien worlds, and the 1940s in the same way the Fantastic Four movies needed Mole Men and Prince Namor. The Superman movie should see events only Superman could create or endure.

The only reason I would rather not see Zod again is because that is EXACTLY the direction, if I remember correctly, that Singer was talking about going for one after Superman Returns...While I'm sure that Nolan and Snyder's Zod would kick the bejeezus out of Singer's Zod, I'd still rather Nolan and Snyder to something different.  I mean, look at Batman Begins...Nolan started with two villains that had not yet been on the screen, and worked up to retelling The Joker.  I still say a Superman movie needs Luther in some capacity, but if this is truly trying to start fresh, give people something they've not had before on the big screen.

By the by, I enjoyed All Star Superman pretty well.  Saw it tonight.  Wish they'd been able to work in the Bizarro World bit, but otherwise pretty well adapted.

I say F it... of course everyone wants to see Supes battle DoomsDay or Lord DarkSied... but look, Christopher Nolan imo is taking Superman to the same place he took the cowl in the aspect of humanizing the character. I'm pretty sure this is going to be a trilogy and what better way to give the audience depth into Supe's origin than to begin with ZOD? Zod will test Supe's physically but more tahn anything else... mentally... somthing that a pro like Viggo Mortensen can balance and deliver like a chinese waiter ya dig??? lol

What I want to know is if this is going to be a complete reboot or are they going to play it off the Donner films ala Returns. Because if that's the case Zod makes sense cause the way Superman 2 ended you know wasn't the last of him

No Zod please! Love Viggo though :-)

Maybe it's because Terence Stamp did such an iconic job with Zod... "Kneel before Zod!" Stamp probably should have made it to that "Actor who overacts a role to perfection" list.

That said, man I wish they'd try to use a different villian.  Actually I think they should try small at first like the Parasite or Metallo.  Both could go toe to toe with Superman and give him a run for his money, but they need to have some foreshadowing for things to come in sequels.  I still think their needs to be a puppet master in the background be it Luthor or Darkseid.  If you had  forshadowing, you could do Doomsday for Superman II (retcon the story and have him be a creation of Darkseid or Luthor), and then in the third act have Superman vs. the puppet master.

I am so sick of Zod.  If Smallville hadn't just done it (and done it to death), I wouldn't mind.  It's been 30 years since Superman 2, and I would have had no complaints.  But after Superman 2 and Smallville, I need something else.

I feel like these filmmakers are only picking Zod (and or Luthor in SR) because all they're familair with are the Supes flicks and not the comics.  Bizarro, Parasite, and Metallo are all characters that could go toe-to-toe with Supes and provide a serious threat.

Well Zod or no you couldnt do better than Viggo, he's a beast!
