A number of announced developing projects are getting less likely to be made after all. Hollywood studios are continuing to pause and examine a number of their projects which may contain subject matter that might offend a public still very sensitive to the recent terror attacks.
According to Variety, among the projects with fuzzy futures are:
TRUCK 44
This Fox 2000 project was placed on hold, possibly forever, due to its elements depicting firmen in danger. The project was being developed by director Peter Berg.
BOAZ THE GREAT
Revolution Studios is still mulling if they will move forward on this Adam Sandler starrer which would have the comic playing an agent of the Israeli Mossad.
DESIGNATED SURVIVOR
Warner Bros. is said to be agonizing over the film which would tell the story of disaster in the nation's capital.
One project, though, is not dead: TICK-TOCK, starring Jennifer Lopez with Stephen Norrington helming.
While talking to the trade, Columbia's Amy Pascal spoke of the project, saying, "There are movies in development that we are not going to make, that would be inappropriate, but TICK-TOCK is not one of them."
Though some changes will be made to the film's script, she notes, "It's ultimately more of a psycho guy on the loose than anything else. I mean, we can't stop making action movies. What is important, though, is that we resist this emotional need to turn xenophobic and make the 'foreigner as enemy' picture."
