Hell yeah! It was sure as hell more action packed than the original X-Men. As for Ratner, I suggest everyone go over to www.imdb.com and check out every movie Ratner has directed. He's actually directed nothing but pretty damn entertaining flicks. And I apologize to Pony for wigging out.

Just a warning for potential viewers: I saw a 9:45pm screening last night, and if you're the type who hasn't taken to the "snaky cam" style of the Bourne movies, well, you're in for it with "Cloverfield". There are some good chunks, that, due to the editing and choppy (and I mean CHOPPY) "camera" work, you will have NO idea what the hell's going on. The good stuff: Great special effects (when you're actually treated to what's going on) that make this flick look like a Summer tentpole in some sections. The monster is terrific. Further bad stuff: The acting is only so-so...believe me, people would behave MUCH MUCH differently if a giant monster attacked Manhattan. New Yorkers ain't THAT dumb...especially after 9/11.

This is now my most anticipated upcoming film. Casting Viggo for this flick was a stroke of genius...he'll really show the needed tenderness as a father shepherding a son across an apocalyptic landscape. I highly recommend reading the book...it was phenomenal.

I'm sorry, but Dan Slott and Steve McNiven are NOT the creative team for this book. Especially McNiven, who draws very static characters with no flair or dramatic effect...he simply does not belong on this book. For God's sake, hire Ron Frenz, or bring back Mark Bagley.

By all means, Merin, count me amongst the folks who LOVED Superman Returns. It was easily my favorite movie of '06. However, I do understand people's feelings regarding the pace, characterization, etc... These feelings just don't pertain to me, though...I liked the care Singer/Dougherty/Harris put into the film, and especially loved the mature handling of Supes. I literally found no flaws other than minor stuff like Lex coming up with another "land grab", Lois being a tad too young, and not having a super-powered villain for Kal to duke it out with...
