Catch the Rush Hour

Okay, just got back from the cinema, where I caught a late showing of "Rush Hour 3". I was a little worried about the film's caliber, as I'd read a few reviews at www. mrqe.com saying the movie was mediocre.

But then again, like I always do, I make sure I head on over to the Chicago Tribune's site to check out Roger Ebert's review (are there any real critics left?).

His gist was this: if you like the Rush Hour movies, you'll like this one just the same. If not, well...then it's so-so (2 stars). Well, I happen to like the franchise quite a bit, and Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker don't fail to deliver the goods.  This time we get some different scenery (Paris...beautiful), as Lee and Carter are again chasing down the Triads. We also get Max Von Sydow chewing up the landscape as he always does...by now he plays the quintessential Euro-villain. The action is fast paced. Tucker's as furious as ever with the mouth. And Chan's his usual Spider-Man-like self (although he's slowing down...the man's 53, now, and it's been some time since the last film. I think the most enjoyment comes from seeing them together on the screen. Tucker and Chan feed off one another, and you can tell they're friends (as evidenced by some pretty funny bloopers during the credits). They even manage to better the first two flicks, as the climactic scene is a battle royale on the Eiffel Tower. Overall, this movie is easily as enjoyable as the first two. I really, really liked it...there's quite a few laugh out loud scenes, and Tucker's brilliant. When you have this kind of chemistry between two leads, you're in for a good time. Go see it.
