Yet another writer has been tasked to bring about the I Dream of Jeannie movie, based on the popular 60's TV series. Screenwriter Rita Hsiao (Mulan) has been brought on board to rewrite the script for the theatrical version after five other screenwriters have gone their seperate ways these past few years. Sid Ganis is producing through his Out of the Blue Entertainment along with Alex Siskin. Bob Simonds and Phoenix New Millennium's Michael Viner are executive producers.

Ganis said the writer delivered producers a pitch that seemed as if she had been living with "Jeannie's" family of characters.

"She has a terrific, bright, fresh approach to Jeannie's story, with a twist and turn along the way," Ganis said of Hsiao. "She captured all of our imaginations in the telling of it."

You know who would have been perfect casting for this? Jessica Simpson and Nick whatshisface. I did catch more ep's of their reality show than I like to admit and the chemistry there would have been good for comedy movie. Jessica in that harem outfit would not be that bad either!

The should focus this film on Jeannie being the dude's sex slave. That'd be sweet.

Don't be acting like you don't know the dude's last name when you saying you watched the show, come on now, "you are better than that". And to add another Mark Jackson reference since I'm in the mood for Game 4, "Mama there goes that man!" and in honor of Bill Walton: "Throw it down big man, throw it down!" By the way I love this Bill Walton quote: Exchange between he and Tom Hammond: “John Stockton is one of the true marvels, not just of basketball, or in America, but in the history of Western Civilization!†Tom: “Wow, that’s a pretty strong statement. I guess I don’t have a good handle on world history.†Bill: “Well Tom, that’s because you didn’t go to UCLA.â€

I Dream of Jeannie was one of my favorite shows as a kid partly because Barbara Eden was so f***ing hot. Her and Dawn Wells were my dream girls on t.v. I guess that menage a trois isn't happening but it was fun dreaming about it.

Anyway I hope they can do a decent film here unlike Bewitched, which they completely f***ed up.

Hasn't "Bewitched" taught us anything?
jdell1964 6/12/2008 7:13:30 AM
Yeah...I see this being another Bewitched...GO CELTICS!!!

I agree with the first thing you said jdell, but GO LAKERS!!!!

Gentlemen, gentlemen, gentlemen... CELTICS! Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out what the hell was up with Bewitched. Not even smokin' a fat one w/Dawn Wells helped me get thru that (That's right WISEGUY. Me & Dawn hang. She makes the best brownies!). Let's hope the makers of this movie learned a little lesson from that one. I loved the old 60's show. This has potential to go either way so I guess I'm just waiting on more to go on.

Forget Jessica Simpson. Get someone who can act. There are plenty of hot women in Hollywood who can actually put two sentences together without making me want to shoot myself. What about Scarlett Johansson? She'd look smokin' in the harem outfit!
almostunbiased 6/12/2008 8:59:13 AM
She's smart enough not to do this.
