The story centers on city which has flourished for generations in an amazing world of glittering lights. But Ember's once-powerful generator is failing, and the great lamps that illuminate the city are starting to flicker. Now, two teenagers must search Ember for clues that will unlock the ancient mystery of the city's existence and help the citizens escape before the lights go out forever. Murray will plan the city's mayor.

Caroline Thompson wrote the script which is based on Jeanne DuPrau's book.   Gary Goetzman and Tom Hanks will produce.

Huh? I'm sorry...but WTF man! That is weak sauce...pure and simple...What is Murray thinking? No Ghostbusters 3...but he'll do this and those Garfield crapfests?? That's it! As a wise man once said on these boards...I quit earth!

PS-And props to the man who said it...whoever he was...it's a great line!

Why do teenagers always save the world? Do other worlds only have morons for adults? I could see if if the adults were all busy fighting of something or too busy, but they'll probably all just be sitting around with their thumbs up their butts. Hopefully not literally or this should be rated R.

Okay comments to spannersna and almostunbiased.

First off this is based on a Children's book so of course the plot is a bit thin, but then again so is every other Freaking plot in hollywood these days, so get over it.

Why do teens save the world? Because it's based on the freaking children's book! And in most children's books KIDs are the main characters (imagine that!). And again it's as cliche as Bruce Willis stopping an army of highly trained soliders!

Sometimes I really think that people just like to complain for the sake of complaining!

I will admit that I am just as disappointed as spanners in Murray's recent film choices, as a big fan of his I've come to realize that he is not the same actor from the 70's, 80's and early 90's. I believe he is doing movies that he thinks are fun, because he certainly doesn't need the fame or money. And doing movies that challenge him as an actor such as 'Rushmore', 'Lost In Translation', etc...
As much as I'd like to see Dr. Vankman on screen one last time battling ghouls, embarrassing himself to get the girl, and showing off his lack of leadership skills, I kind of figured that a 'Ghostbusters 3' was a far reach. They'll probably get a couple of young actors to play some college kids who find out about the existance of alternate plane of reality and how some ghouls want to crossover causing some imbalance in our reality and then discover, along the way, that this battle was fought before by the Ghostbusters and will seek them out just to find Winston, who'll tell them why the other characters aren't in the movie, and then give them advice and probably join them in the final battle dying in the end and we'd see his ghost leaving to a better place.

Whoo!

Shit I should be in Hollywood making movies!

LOL

Sorry but realistically Ghostbuster's II was not that great of a sequel. I would much rather see Murray continue in roles along the lines of 'Broken Flowers' or 'Lost in Translation'

I agree, Ghostbusters 2 was not that good. However, Murray has played the same low key character in LIT, BF, and LA. After a refreshing viewing of Meatballs, I personally wouldn't mind seeing the guy stop playing "depressed" and simply be funny. I miss his silly roles in Caddyshack, Ghostbusters and What About Bob. It would be a nice change of pace. Even Robin Williams lets his zany side out inbetween his subdued performances. Seriously, I have to agree....what is the guy thinking when he takes on roles in Garfield 2 and Charlie's Angels? I'd even like to see Steve Martin let out his inner "wild and crazy guy" from time to time.
