Knightley Mrs Jack Ryan?

Will Pirates Vet get cast?

By Robert T. Trate     August 11, 2012
Source: Vulture.com

Jack Ryan, as it is currently titled, is due Dec. 25, 2013.
© Di Bonaventura Pictures
As previously rumored, Knightley is closing in on the role of Mrs. Ryan, wife to the titular Jack (Chris Pine), in the upcoming Kenneth Branagh–directed Tom Clancy prequel. (This is the one about the evil Russian guy who tries to destroy the American economy by devaluing the dollar.) So either Keira has changed her mind about tentpole movies, or it's not a "blockbuster" if it involves international fiscal policy?

Thanks to Chopsaki for the submission.

Ahhhh...things were going so well for this movie and now this ugly skinny-as-a-twig lady comes and screws this whole cast....crap.

Skinny yes, ugly no. I wish she'd put on some weight because she's very attractive otherwise

I am not sure why they would want that sickly skinny b!tch.  I have read the terrors this girl brings to the set. And it is not like anyone says "Hey, let goes see whatever movie! Kiera Knightly is in it!"

She is a period piece actress.  She belongs in movies that pre-dates the 1900's

 I agree with Wise

Is this supposed to follow one of the novels, or is this going to be an "original" story? I remember hearing that they might write an original screenplay rather than adapt one of Clancy's novels, primarily because the author wasn't a fan of what they did to his universe, particularly in the last disaster.

Always kinda thought Ryan's story might be better told as a TV series. It's very hard to get everything and do it right in adapting a novel so rich and extensive into a 2 and a half hour movie.

Knightly needs to eat cheeseburgers... & cake.....for a while.  There is a lovely woman waiting to happen there, but she is starving.

I'm a longtime Clancy fan, but if you're not going to adapt one of the books, what's the point of making it a Jack Ryan story at all.  Clancy's first 8 or so novels would make badass movies if they were adapted by people with the balls to adapt the novels faithfully.  A Game Of Thrones-style HBO format would be great but a faithful film franchise is a no-brainer.  Start with Red Rabbit & carry it through.  Without Remorse needs to happen as a movie though.

\\"...is the one about the evil Russian guy who tries to destroy the American economy by devaluing the dollar..."\\

This is what really happened.... except the Americans did it to themselves.

Another Tom Clancy "prequel".  Why not actually use the books that are already written?  They tried this reboot with Affleck (which was actually a pretty decent movie.)  Why do it again?  I'm with you sytheofluna.

That would be "Debt of Honor", and would allow us to move straight into Executive orders. Seriously Robert it took me two minutes to look that up, how lazy a researcher are you?

If that "ugly, skinny as a twig woman is screwing the whole cast", how can I get a part?
