Myriad, Studio 407 Adapting HYBRID Comic
By: Jarrod Sarafin, News EditorDate: Wednesday, January 16, 2008
It didn't take long for them to get the ball rolling. Just over a month ago, Myriad Pictures and newly-formed comic publisher Studio 407 partnered up for future comic-to-film adaptations. Their first example is an upcoming horror-comic called HYBRID, which should be hitting shelves June 2008. Myriad Pictures also plans to release Mother of Tears (pictured here), the latest film from horror icon Dario Argento, sometime in Feb 2008.
Variety reports that the property will also get adapted for the big screen by the two production teams. Peter Kwong, who penned the comic, will also handle the screenplay duties. Myriad's Kirk D'Amico and Studio 407's Alex Leung are producing. Myriad wants to begin production on the horror-adaptation sometime in mid-2008 and plans to shoot it in Southeast Asia off the coast of Thailand.
Plot Concept: The story revolves around vacationing college students who come across what appears to be an abandoned trawler while on a sailing trip. They soon discover it is the nest of a mutant creature, born of environmental abuse, who "fishes" for humans in the open water.
