The Review!2 out of 5
Music found in the Nadesico Movie.
This CD is filled with an eighteen-page insert. The first page contains a relatively plain cover page with only the title of the movie, and small pictures bordering the page. The next page is a full staff list for the CD as well as the movie itself. Next we have a two-page song title list, complete with a background picture that is simply awe-inspiring. Next comes a full-page picture of some of the characters, followed by two small paragraphs from the director. Next we have the English lyrics to one of the vocal songs, and the opposite page is a picture of Ruri, the ?Singer? of the song. The next two pages are pictures of the actual voice actress who supplied the singing voice as well as the speaking voice for Ruri and a list of the songs she sings on this CD. The next two pages is the same as the pages before the singers pages, only a different song, and different pictures. Next up is a paragraph from the producer about the movie and a really intricate picture of one of the mecha found in the movie/series. The next two pages make up a cast list for the movie/series. And finally credits for the CD itself.
The music in this CD is interesting. It is made up of a mix between orchestra and synthesizer that just make for good listening. The music in the C is actually of a darker more sinister nature than that found in the series, and it moves the listener to deeper, harder depths of emotion. Although, the music itself is good, and a complete triumph in setting the scene for the Nadesico movie, I was slightly disappointed in the way that the CD was presented. The songs are short and to the point for the scenes, basic for any background music, but from a listening sound point, only the small pauses in between each song gives even the barest hint that the song is finished. Too many of the songs run together into what sounds like one really long song. N a way, as good as the music itself is, this presents the CD as long, drawn out and boring. I liked the music, but I wouldn?t really recommend the CD to avid BGM fans.
The acceptation to this rule is of course the two vocal songs. They are a throw back to the fun of the movie and keep the listener in mind of the sweet face of the ship?s pilot Ruri. Also, songs 32-39 are more of an upbeat type that made it a little better, but they too seem to run together within their own world. It?s hard to say if I really liked this CD, or really hated it, but I?m willing to say that much like the music I am feeling bland after just a short listen.
Fangboy says?Eh, heard better, definitely heard worse.
