Having seen (and, horrors, enjoyed) my share of anime porn, I know that not every selection involves rape. But I don't think I should pretend it doesn't exist, either. I was hoping I made it clear that anime is varied in all regards. Manga Sutra, for example, is really cute and funny.
I think we could all use a little forearm internets. In spite of an over saturation of L and Kira, there were some terrific costumes this year. I really liked the yoshi-riding Mario.
Thanks for the corrections, especially the inclusion of "moron." Very helpful.
I actually juuust received "How To Read" as a birthday present from a friend! I look forward to reading it. I actually forgot about the part where light sees his younger self walk by. That was pretty haunting.
Big Guy and Rusty was a super high-quality cartoon, something Fox Kids doesn't latch onto often. Too bad it didn't last. If I'm not mistaken though, wasn't Fox the station that aired Batman: The Animated Series in its prime? I guess the station is capable of surprising me once in a while. (B:TAS aired on Global Television in Canada, back when public access used to show cartoons. Ach, those days are long gone.)
Ha ha, I wouldn't mind seeing Pokemon end, either (actually, I think that's happening, but I might be wrong). I'm a little more lenient towards Pokemon though because it's a series for little kids. No one praises it for story depth. I sat through most of Dragon Ball Z, and that certainly dragged on at times (the Freiza Saga), but the different story arcs made it feel like it was going somewhere.
The live-action Death Note movie didn't show up in any Canadian theatres--not even in big cities like Toronto--which makes me a very sad panda.
Metalwater: Thanks! Always happy to be writing! Rudewordsmith: When you say "Animaniacs,"I think of the Warner Bros cartoon. Every generation has that percentage of kids who don't understand the concept of an indoor voice, personal space, etc. To be honest, I grew up in the '80s and some of my friends were insufferable brats. I had an Irish mother who tolerated very little of those shenanigans, so did I ever learn to behave. I'm a little scared to see the Speed Racer movie because I'm prone to migraines and the flashing colours look like they could be a potential nightmare.
You're right about the freeloaders, though. Manga fans can be pretty bad about that. I guess because so many participants are youngsters and the stuff tends to get expensive. I wonder if shrink-wrapping everything (not just the M rated titles) would help at all, heh heh.

Dazzler: Naruto maaay or may not be on Toonami Jetstream. I can't access the site 'cause I'm Canadian. :( Speaking of being Canadian, we don't get Cartoon Network in Canada so I never got Toonami. But I married my American husband in 2001 and we did a lot of travelling back and forth through the States during Toonami's heydey. It was really a block to be envious of, especially since back then it took YTV years to get the same programmes. Even though it went downhill, I'm going to miss those early years.
