Narcissa Malfoy Cast in HALF BLOOD PRINCE

According to the CBBC Newsround, actress Helen McCrory has been cast as Narcissa Malfoy for HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE and the final installment, DEATHLY HALLOWS. With production under way for a few weeks now, we've been waiting for this final casting announcement to drop. It seems somewhat fitting that McCrory was cast in the franchise because at one point, she was pegged to play Bellatrix Lestrange, the sister of Narcissa in the series. Instead, that role went to Helena Bonham Carter after McCrory announced she was pregnant.

Here's some photos of the actress...

HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE hits theaters November 21, 2008.

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS hits theaters sometime in 2010.

I just don't see how Helen McCrory looks anything like the description for Narcissa Malfoy. I tried finding a photo of the actress with blond hair just to get a better comparison shot but came up empty.

It's not just that though...After all, there's always hair dye. It's just McCrory doesn't look like my mental picture of Narcissa as Rowling describes her in the final two books.

She does make for a good Bellatrix look..but Helena now has that part and she fits it perfectly.

I'm with DarkJedi. This one doesn't seem to fit.

Still, I wasn't sold on Imelda Staunton as Umbridge at the time her casting was announced, and she was nothing short of amazing. We might be surprised.

And, even if it turns out aren't, we've still got to give kudos to the casting directors for this series. They've pretty much nailed the casting for this saga save for a few arguable exceptions.

I don't know that I would even say that there have been a few exceptions. They've nailed all of the choices. I'm not familiar with Ms. McCrory, but I'm sure she will be smashing.

Well EvilMonkey, with this Writers Strike the Warners were trying to get things done ASAP. It'll be on DVD in December along with Justice League which is already on bootleg.

I think "Order of the Phoenic", was a very good movie, being that it was my least favorite book. It just dragged on for too long, and Harry was always getting mad at something. The movie was a lot more straight foreward. I can not wait to see what the do for Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows.

The movies are great movies and the casting has been just as good. They chose her for a reason I am sure she will do fine.

So is she playin the character that turns out to be Harry Potter's son at the end of Deathly Hollows?

"They've nailed all of the choices"

I myself do not think so. That's why I said a few "arguable exceptions." Personally I don't care for Michael Gambon in the role of Dumbledore. Great actor, no doubts there, but he's not Dumbledore in my eyes. Sadly, the best actor for the part was the one they had cast, but he passed away before he could finish the role.

Gleason is not my ideal choice for Mad Eye either. I actually think the guy who plays Filch would have been much better as Mad Eye, but he obviously couldn't do it since he already had a different part.

I am undoubtedly the minority based on my roamings on this and other sites, but being so doesn't change my mind.
