I'll wait for the inevitable director's cut. My guess it will be out around November when PJ releases the extended edition of King Kong.

Have they confirmed an extended King Kong?

I wish they would release this on the same day as the KONG DVD just so it could kick that piece of shit KONG's ass one more time.

Not yet scyth, but I believe PJ to be consistent. Every time one of the LOTR films was released on DVD, the following November would see the release of the extended edition.

Did someone just call King Kong shit? I thought that movie was WAY overhypes but under-rated. It was probably the best film of the year is terms of visual, story and acting. Apparently nobody in this world has that little thing called taste anymore, we're too busy watching mindless dribble like the Fantastic Four, or overly dull and boring but GASP controversial films like Brokeback- shit what ever happened to movies being for entertainment?

King Kong Kicked Ass. There were several reasons why it didn't do well at the box office.

One was that it was a remake. I think its safe to say that the general public is growing tired of the "remake trend". It didn't help that in the weeks prior to its release, TV was saturated with showings of the original. Bad move. People watched the original in anticipation of the new one and then stopped and said, "Hey I just saw that" and decided to pass.

Another reason for its poor box office was that there were just not enough showings. Because of the film's length, it was just not getting the play it needed.

Third, releasing the film opposite of Narnia was just bad planning. Kong suffered greatly from the fact that although it had great visuals it was not as family friendly as Narnia. There were scenes that were graphic and a little too intense for youngsters. So it lost alot of ground to Narnia.

All that said, it in no way means that Kong was a poor film. It was an EXCELLENT film and certainly deserved more props than it got. The visuals were so vivid and the sequences were so rich in detail. It deserves so much more appreciation than it has gotten. I certainly deserves to be recognized more than the gay cowboy movie.
