I'm glad Narnia's doing so well; it's a great family film. Kong's made $400 million worldwide and it's still chugging along, so it'll probably make at least $300 million in profit for the interests involved before DVD sales (which will be huge as well). I saw Rumor Has It over the weekend, and thought it was just ok with some funny moments. I'm not a big Jennifer Aniston fan, but I love Shirley Maclaine and Kevin Costner and I thought they were good in their roles. I saw Munich last night and was just flattened by the movie. It was so powerful and haunting. In the directors who matter listing on this site I gave my opinion that I thought Spielberg was the best, hands down. This cements is for me. I was blown away by the look, tone and feel of the movie as well as the performances. I remember seeing the Olympic slayings on the news, but never knew about the retribution.

Nice to hear Wes. I would like to see Munich down the road sometime. Better than Schindler's List? eh??

I am sure some people will make a big deal about how Narnia beat Kong in the B.O. and how Kong just wasn't as good as all the hype. I'm going to totally disagree. I really liked Kong. I also like Narnia, but I think as someone on here so astutely pointed out, Narnia was for better or worse, a more family friendly movie. All the religious overtones aside. If I had a family, I would have most likely gone with that instead of Kong and seen Kong on a date.PJ made the movie he wanted to see and thought most fans would want to see, too. I think he succeeded in that. On another note, I really want to see Munich. I heard that it was a very powerful film and Bana did a great job.

I agree, ponyboy76. Kong was good, as well as Narnia. I'm glad we live in a day and time where both movies can do well at the boxoffice.

The real news here is that both Kong and Narnia have been holding steady at the box office for the past couple weeks. Each has been making about 31-33M each weekend after the initial release. So while Kong may not be as big of a blockbuster as Universal had hoped for, it also didn't drop like a giant monkey off the Empire State Building.

I have to admit to seeing Narnia a second time this weekend (the only movie I've seen twice in the theater in quite a long time). Given the choice of Narnia and Kong for a second viewing, it just made more sense - it's shorter and has a happy ending. I have to admit, I found it more charming the second time around.

I also saw Syriana this weekend. It reminded me of Traffic, except in the Middle East instead of South America, and about oil instead of drugs. I thought it was an excellent movie, though definitely not for those looking for some escapist entertainment.

I'm kinda disappointed Geisha isn't doing so well. It's one of my favorite books. Haven't seen the movie yet, but plan on it as soon as I get a free moment. Christmas with family put me a little behind on movies, so I'm gonna spend this week catching up. Only got to see the Producers, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Still need to see Narnia, Geisha, Dick and Jane, and absolutely Brokeback Mountain!

I think that this holiday season will prove to Hollywood that they need to spend less on Production. Which will be quite hard, actually, since actors are asking for so much nowadays...

Even though Kong was not my favorite this year(not by a long shot), for Jackson and those involved, it IS good to see it do pretty well, and it will probably make a decent profit. DVD sales will be great, I bet!

Narnia being on top just makes me smile. My two sons have had a great time with this film, and even my wife, who's not much of a fantasy buff, liked it. It's good to see a powerful and well done film with it's morality play and sense of goodness do well in a time when films like Hostel and Wolf Creek, with very violent over-tones, are released. I have nothing against those kinds of films(I actually plan to see Hostel, WITHOUT the family!), but it is nice to have a movie that I can take everyone and it not be either too long or too violent. Narnia does have it's moments of "violence", but they're on the level of Potter or even Phantom Menace. More like "action violence" rather than in your face gore violence.

I want to see Munich, and so does my wife, so we'll need someone to watch the kids while we see it. Thanks Wessmith for the review of Munich. You have me VERY intrigued!

Iracors, I don't think Munich was better than Schindler's List; in my book very few movies reach that high. That being said, Munich is as moving in its own way and a brilliant film and comes very close to Schindler's List. Spielberg's passion really comes through in this film. I never saw Chopper, and only new Eric Bana from Hulk and Troy; he's a fantastic actor.

exarkun1138, my girlfriend's boys loved Narnia too, and mentioned last night that they would like to see it again. I'm excited to see Hostel this weekend, but it looks like I'll be travelling through the wardrobe again too.

"Rumor Has It" was horrible...not one of Rob Reiner's best efforts. The only highlights were Shirley MacLaine and Mark Ruffalo...and they much deserve to be in better films. Can't wait to see Munich, however...Spielberg strikes again.
