I believe, that since we are taught to tell the truth, the recent back and fourth about Nathan Fillion’s appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy has been the worst part of his casting.
News surfaced over the weekend that Firefly, Castle, and all around fanboy favorite Nathan Fillion was going to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy set the internet a blaze. It was being reported that he would play Richard Rider aka Nova in the film. This would be yet another slap in the face to Warner Brothers and DC Comics who should have cast the actor as the Green Lantern. Then Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn tweeted the following.
Okay, so it was the fault of wishful thinking and an overzealous fanboy community. Then a few hours later James Gunn tweets this:
I know they are in business and keeping the news and releasing it is a part of that medium. However, would a yes or no be so horrible in this day and age? Is his part that big of a deal or is it just a cameo. He could be a guy on the street who walks by Rocket Raccoon for all we know. So he is not playing Nova aka Richard Rider. Anyone want to place bets that he is?
The news, of his casting, hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. As always, we wait for the official news to come from Marvel or Disney.
