Is it possible he could be playing his character in the Firefly series??  Didn't watch the show and not sure of the history, so don't know if he would fall in that timeline?  But it would be a funny cameo and a nice nod to Joss Whedon.

That would be funny as hell.

Why couldn't this have happened? Why just the cameo? Why Why Why???

Holy cow, Nathan Fillion is going to make a brief cameo appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy !!!

The excitement never starts.

Blanky, Nathan Fillion is to Joss Whedon/Marvel as Bruce Cambell is to Sam Raimi/Spider-man/Sony.  So it is kind of big news.  You being a everyday movie goer and not a comic fan boy, wouldn't know this!

And that's exactly why they are called teases.  This is one of the best things about movies today is the surprises in them.  I for one, don't want to know what my Christmas presents are going to be months before Christmas day!  Let's just wait and see what happens.

In one of the early concept images there was a bar scene, it could be a Mal Reynolds look alike they run into in that scene. Or it could be during the prison riot sequence shown in the trailer.

blankczech 6/22/2014 4:36:00 PM are absolutely correct I'm not a comic fanboy.  I'm giving you guys the casual viewer perspective.  To me Fillion is  a character (best selling mystery writer) on Castle (a TV show I've watched a couple of times and unfortunately cannot get those hours back).  I'm afraid that's how 90% of the audience for GotG will see him (hardly inspiring).

I read, so I know Fillion was also Mal Reynolds on Whedon's Firefly but I've never seen an episode of Firefly (it's on my list of things to watch on Netflix).  I don't know about any ties between Fillion and Marvel outside of his collaborations with Whedon and the fact that Whedon is responsible for the Holy Grail of Disney/Marvel Super Hero films.

As for this news being a slap in the face of Warner Bros. who should have cast him as Green Lantern, that's total Fanboy gossip  Do you guys really think Fillion would have been able to do something with that role that Reynolds couldn't...that movie was a steaming pile of s**t (writing, directing, etc.)  Would anyone want to see the husky/chubby Fillion in skin tight green and black spandex?

Do not confuse these remarks to be a negative take on GotG...I'm very much looking forward to that film.

I like NF, throw him in there anywhere and it will be fun. If it's as Mal or some other Marvel Character, it will be great to see him in the movie and I hope that he can be seen in another movie soon.

Has anyone thought Fallon could be playing Peter Quill Jason/Star Lord's father?  He could the one piloting the space craft that took Jason from earth.
