What They Say
If you can't be with the one you love, then love the one you're with. And for a lonely widow longing for the sexual passion she enjoyed with her long gone husband, the moment can't come fast enough. It should be illegal for such a hot, sex charged nymph to be deprived of the thing she enjoys most out of life. But Kumiko is in luck, as an intriguing stranger is about to raid her honey pot and do things to her that will make her forget her husband ever existed. Explosive sex & intense bondage are on the menu, so enjoy the meal!!

The Review!
Taking a turn into a bit of a side story, Showa gets very familiar with the neighbor who just happens to be a widow.

Adult Source Media again covers its bases by providing both an English and Japanese language track for this release. In listening to both tracks, the show sports what you'd basically expect of a stereo mix for an adult title in that it's essentially dialogue driven. There isn't much in the way of really noticeable directionality but both tracks do feel somewhat louder than usual in comparison to other shows. In shifting from a mainstream release to this I had to notch it down by four to get a comparable level and even then it felt louder. Dialogue is clean and clear throughout however and we had no problems with dropouts or distortions during regular playback.

Originally released in 2006, the transfer for this OVA series is presented in its original full frame aspect ratio. The transfer for this show looks good overall which is helped by a very good looking piece of animation. The show features something of a soft look to it which appears to be intentional and is generally free of any serious kind of problem. Colors are generally solid throughout, black levels look good and most backgrounds maintain a solid feel to them. There is some edge cross coloration going into a few areas but it's very minimal and hardly noticeable unless you're really looking for it. There is a clean feel to it overall and this presentation should please most.

Kumiko is the center of attention here as she's presented in his most docile of modes while some of her more intimate moments are in the background. The reverse side front cover is pretty much identical except for some additional pieces of clothing to adorn Kumiko. The back cover and its reverse side follow the same trend with a number of graphic shots on one side and clean ones on the other. The summary covers the basics and the discs production and technical information is listed in the way they've done it for some time. It's not the best layout (technical grid!) but it does let you know what languages are involved and the best way to list runtimes.

The menu design for this release is solid and similar to the second volume it's not quite as noisy. Using the design from the cover, clips from the show play out within the background next to the design for Kumiko. The logo and navigation is fairly standard in layout and there is a bit of instrumental music playing along to it that sets the mood nicely. The animation clips do a decent job of setting the mood as well and avoiding playing anything hardcore which is a plus. The disc correctly read our players' language defaults and played accordingly.

The only extras on the disc are a set of images from the show.

Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
The Natural Obsessions 2 series take something of a detour with this volume as it provides for a side story to the events in the previous two episodes. Things we've seen there are mentioned in a vague way to provide some amount of continuity but in the end it simply shows that Showa gets lucky anytime, anywhere, anyhow.

With the two episodes that covered the two sisters already, having this one shift to someone else's story isn't all that surprising. As the next door neighbor and apparently landlord, Kumiko hasn't had an easy life in recent memory as her husband has passed away. The memories of him are quite strong and she's almost listless with her life in general. The only thing that continues to give her focus is the way she feels when she touches herself to the thought of her husband being there. All of that changes when she sees Showa outside with the girls. Though he doesn't really resemble her husband and she event admits this, there's an attraction there that she can't quite resist.

Innocent conversation and a familiarity with the sisters leads her to getting closer to Showa. His nature of being so casual and disarming allows him to get close to her but in a nice change of pace from many other series he simply lets it happen. Without any pressure or real suggestion from him, she falls into him easily enough and the two have a lengthy tryst that helps to free her from the past. Her passive ways when combined with Showa's own passive nature is amusing to watch as the two seem to feed off of each other pretty well. Their encounters are simple at first but once Showa has a taste and she starts to feel alive they end up taking it on the road as well.

Similar to the previous installments, the visuals of the show are very appealing here with great looking character designs and engaging sex scenes. Kumiko is no slouch compared to the two sisters and her slightly more mature ways and background gives the show a different feel. The manner in which she breaks free from her bonds of the past of course involves some bonds but there are also some great moments of creativity. The small car in which she and Showa have a side of the road encounter is hilarious " aren't Japanese cars supposed to be quite compact for something like this? " and it even has a great horn tooting moment. Showa has plenty to toot about at that. It's not often that the sex scenes really feel like they work in connection with the overall character history but here it just clicks right.

In Summary:
Though little is added here that will do much to alter the main story, it does illustrate just how much Showa gets around. Even while he's getting together with each of the sisters he had a nice widow on the side that needed some attention. With some nicely don nods toward the main story and plenty of solid sex scenes that play out in a different manner than the core story, Natural Obsessions 2 provides a great little side story. It doesn't however get me more of the real story which is disappointing overall but this is certainly one way to pass the time until things pick up again. This episode has just the right mix of sex and sensitivity with plenty of diversity mixed into it. Fans of the series will likely enjoy this little detour.
