According to the Hollywood Reporter, NBC has given a cast-contingent green light to the reconceptualization of The Bionic Woman.

The show is to be modeled after the 1970s series about a woman whose body is mechanically enhanced to save her life.

The pilot is to be an hour long.

KJ's Take:  It will be interesting to see just what kind of cast they are going after for this concept.  Seems a bit dated to me, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt until I hear more.

Are there ANY original ideas set for television or the movies anymore? C'mon? What's next 'Sanford and Son', 'Eight is Enough', 'The Waltons'. This is ridiculous. No wonder I stopped watching TV.

I'm the last person to say that TV is the bastion of originality, but I hardly think you are being fair. The real issue is that any new idea they DO try is gvien like 3-6 episodes to gather a huge audience or they kill it. You also get continually compared to any other show that was remotely like it (how about Daybreak - neat idea, but had a bit of time shedding comparisons to, of all things, Groundhog day) I'd also muse that it's got to be really hard coming up with something people will consider 'original' AND get the execs to pick up on it. There's an awful lot of TV & movies out there - and you SURE don't want to be compared to a show that failed.

You stopped watching TV? Bad move on your part. TV is better now then it's ever been, and better then most movies. With shows like Battlestar Galactica, LOST, Doctor Who, and Heroes TV simply couldn't be better these days.

I read somewhere the concept for this show isn't supposed to be the obvious beautiful bionic babe runs around doing fantastic FX stunts in slo-mo, but how does
being bionic change the meaning of your life or something along that line. We'll see.

One other thing, I agree TV is at a high point as far as quality is concerned. Personally, my big turnoff is the networks pulling the plug to quickly on well made shows and replacing them with cheap gameshows or reality series. I can see how people would turn off their TVs, but unfortunately they are missing some great shows.

That's because the mainstream audience are too slow (and too stupid) catch on with the story. Blame it on those major bulk of the audience for wanting more SURVIVOR, AMAZING RACE, AMERICAN IDOL, etc.

It's high school all over again.

If that's true, I hope they put the original 1970s show on DVD . . . . Heck why not put the SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN on DVD too.

TV truly sucks these days. There are very few good shows on it. We get, what, over 100 channels and its the same crap over and over again. How many gameshows and reality based shows can we watch?

There are a handful of shows i do watch: 24, Battlestar Galactica, NCIS, Stargate: SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, and the Unit. I will occassionally watch the various Law & Order and CSI shows. Other than that, i watch TV Season Sets on DVD because of the lack of original, cutting edge television shows.

They shouldnt do remakes of television shows because the rate of acceptance of these shows are low. Look at how movies remakes of TV shows have done, lousy. Miami Vice, Dukes of Hazzard, Lost in Space, etc.

As for releasing the SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN (3 pilots, 5 seasons, 3 TV movies) and the BIONIC WOMAN (3 seasons) on DVD keep watching TVSHOWSONDVD dot com for the latest.
