What network would pass on picking up a TV series based on an iconic superhero after tons of public exposure? Well, it seems that NBC falls into that category, with the Hollywood Reporter passing along the peacock network has rejected "Wonder Woman." The surprising snub comes after countless set photos of Adrianne Palicki--the actress who was set to play the title character---entered the public conscious and became a source of water cooler discussion.
The trade reports that after lackluster buzz and a network screening that went poorly, the network made their decision.
It would have starred Palicki, Elizabeth Hurley, Tracie Thoms and Cary Elwes. Jeff Reiner (The Event) directed the pilot, based on a script by showrunner David E. Kelly.
Thoms, who would have played Wonder Woman/Diana Prince's best friend Etta, voiced her disappoinment on Twitter, saying, "I am very sad that NBC passed on Wonder Woman. But that just goes to show you: There is no such thing as a "sure thing" in this biz."
