The show looked like crap. Sorry. Who cares why some executive wants to be diplomatic?

I'm guessing they'll go the CW route.  If anything, the pilot will probably be up on iTunes just like the Aquaman pilot from a few years back.

It sucked. We know that. The suit just couldn't say it. Just be glad it didn't happen. Anyone remember the CBS Justice League pilot?

SarcasticCaveman 5/16/2011 10:41:20 PM

I only recently saw that Justice League pilot...Ugh.  I'm of the mind that it probably was at the very least subpar, and probably has CW or UPN quality.  I'm alright if there's one less mediocre or awful show for people to hate and debate weekly.

Wonder Woman is probably one of my least favorite DC Heroes, mostly because I'm primarily a film and tv follower of things, I'm not now, nor have I ever been a big comicbook/graphic novel reader. So sue me.

I know and love the characters with a passion, and I'm sure WW kicks soo much booty in the comics, and not to hate on Linda Carter, but the concept is kind of hard to do live action. This unfortunately seems to be the case with most things DC with the obvious exception of Batman. Marvel is kicking names and taking ass... wait.... yea.

I'm much more in love with DC than I am Marvel overall, but I'm really hoping Green Lantern finally helps them capture just a little of the magic that Marvel has going for it right now. Perhaps a WW movie would have been better? So I can't say that I'm really disappointed in the show not getting picked up, not that I wouldn't have tuned in (especially cause she is extremely attractive) but I feel that it would've gone the same route as the Bionic Woman reboot, so perhaps this is for the best.

Still really want some DC love out there on the airwaves in some form or fashion, they just need to find the right fit. For the show that is, not for the network, that was dumb.

And honestly, I wasn't all that jazzed with the premise.  Wonder Woman started out as an amazon who returned a military man to the states, then made her secret identity within the military also.  Now they're wanting to make her head of a cosmetics company?  Uh...if there are any ladies here, is military to cosmetics company a bit of a HUGE step backward?  I know, I know, she was going to be CEO...still seems kind of silly and cliche having the hot chick being involved in cosmetics, IMO.  I'm also pretty sure that when Wonder Woman first hit the stands, I'd bet that she wasn't very far above a military secretary...however, keeping her in the military in this day and age, there's a lot more liberties to take that wouldn't seem too far gone from the original premise.

If I owned a studio, I wouldnt have greenlit Wonder Woman either.  I dont think there is any way in this day and age to transfer it into the small screen and make it successful.  Maybe the big screen and that is a very small maybe imo.  I also think the same about a lot of the marvel tv concepts...the audience is too small and the budgets are too high.  Is a Luke Cage or Black Panther TV series REALLY going to succeed?

Now dont hate me, as I despise everything reality based and the crappy money making shows, but unfortunately for the big companies they look at the dollar and the American trailer trash, white collar people watch crap like Jersey Shore and My Fat Wife Vs. My Fat Cat...the only way any of these show could succeed imo is with a cable studio like HBO, Starz, Showtime, FX or AMC where they will spend the money on short seasons with amazingly written scripts...the big companies are too worried about what will sell lunchboxes and McHappy Meals.

I hope another network picks it up just to drop it again...This comic book character is LAME!!!!

Go darker with the whole thing and then maybe I might be on board otherwise, who cares...

SarcasticCaveman 5/17/2011 12:41:36 AM

Not everything needs to be or should be dark.  That's cool if it's not for you though.  I wish they'd be a little closer to origin and setting, and of course get ride of those long pants.

Actually, no, it wouldn't be a step backward if she were the ceo of a cosmetics company, because at least she would be the ceo, not a secretary...which is what she was in the military. It's not like she was a general or something, she took dictation. This is, however, a moot point since it WASN'T a cosmetics company. She was the ceo of Themyscira Industries which was a company she created to actually have control of Wonder Woman merchandise that was being relesed to the public because in this show, as she would be in real life if she existed, Wonder Woman is the biggest celebrity in the world. She didn't want people capitalizing and profiting from false images of her, so she created Themyscira Industries.
