Electronic Arts has announced that development on NEED FOR SPEED UNDERGROUND is underway. Unlike earlier SPEED games, UNDERGROUND focuses exclusively on the street racing circuit.
Players will be able to fully customize their vehicle with plenty of real-life car accessories to boost speed, performance and handling. EA has licensed dozens of aftermarket providers including AEM, Bilstein, Enkei, HKS, Injen, Neuspeed, Nitrous Express, MOMO, StreetGlow and many more manufacturers. As well, the game will feature 20 full customizable licensed cars Mitsubishi and Toyota, to name just two auto manufacturers.
Of course, once you've modded your car you'll be able to race it against other street racers.
Vancouver-based EA Black Box is designing the game which will be available for PlayStation 2, Xbox, Gamecube and GameBoy Advance. The game should be ready to ship around the start of 2004.
