A new villain has been cast for THE INCREDIBLE HULK which hits theaters next summer. Actor Tim Blake Nelson (The Astronaut Farmer, Fido, Syriana) has joined the ensemble cast to do battle against Bruce Banner aka The Incredible Hulk (Edward Norton). He will be portraying Samuel Sterns aka "The Leader" as he is called in Hulk mythology. His character, a worker in a chemical research plant who is bombarded with gamma radiation. He emerges from his accident not only green-skinned but also superintelligent, with an oversized brain. More than likely, he will be right there alongside actor Tim Roth who is portraying the other villain in the film, Emil Blonsky aka Abomination.

The film stars Edward Norton (Bruce Banner/Hulk), Liv Tyler (Betty Ross), Tim Roth (villain Emil Blonsky/the Abomination) and William Hurt (General Ross, Betty's father) & Tim Blake Nelson (villain Samuel Sterns/The Leader).

THE INCREDIBLE HULK hits theaters June 13, 2008.

It seems these days that one villian is no longer enough in a comic book movie. That being said, tis kind of cool. It gives the Abomination someone to look to to take orders from instead of just beating the crap out of the Hulk for no reason.

Leader is great news. This is actually a comic movie now and not an artsy fartsy one like last one. Leader is super smart with some mental powers to control people. A great way to control the Abomination if that is the case. No sign of Rick Jones yet it seems. That would round this out perfectly.

I'm so much more excited about this new version of the Hulk than the last. Everything seems to be falling into place much better. And yes seeing Rick Jones would be perfect.

It's cool that The Leader will be in the film, but is he really needed? Isn't Emil Blonsky smart too, even when he turns into The Abomination? I thought that's what made him so dangerous; he's like the Hulk's doppelganger. So, if Blonsky IS smart, then what will be The Leader's purpose in pushing the story? It doesn't matter, because I think we're going to get the Hulk movie we wanted a couple of years ago. I like parts of Lee's Hulk, but not enough to ever want to watch it again.

Yeah, it does seem as though some of these comic book movies will burn out all their material by crowding too many villians in one film. However, Nelson can make a great contrast with his usual character roles as the dumb hick and now becoming a creature of vast mental power.
You might as well throw in Rick Jones too, unless they are saving him for Captain America.

Im Thinking Leader and Abomination are going to capture HULK so they can dissect him and figure out how HULK can turn back to Bruce Banner and they cannot. And probably Abomination will try and start a nuclear war between Russia and USA.

They should have spent some money to ressurect Vincent Price, and cast him as the Leader.

But I dig Tim Blake Nelson, so all should be fine. I'm just impressed with Marvel's casting now that they are their own studio. This and Iron Man are showing a new trend in Super Hero films. And it's a trend I can dig.

This is cool. Because of the first news that Marvel was doing a rehash-sequel I started catching up on the green beast by reading some back issues.
I do agree though, that having The Leader in this might be to much for one movie, due to The Abomination's strength and intelect he is a pretty big villain in the Hulk canon. Unless they dumb him down and he ends up like dazzler said, having The Leader control him to do his bidding.
I think that it would be cool to see Marvel do to this project as they have been doing to their other properties and set up villains and other known characters for sequels to come. Maybe have The Leader come into the storyline later in the movie due to the conflict between Hulk and The Abomination and then we can see him as a major villain in the sequel.
