Just wait until 2.0. That's where things really start getting crazy. It's not even the same story anymore by the end of 2.0. There are huge changes in it.

I really wish the Blu-ray was releasing at the same time. I just can't justify buying the DVD knowing that a Blu-ray version is coming out next year.
I liked this film, and I'm willing to give Anno a pass for it being so similar to the beginning of the series, because I'm certain the little tweaks done to the story here have the potential to spin off in wildly new directions over the course of four films. (The "next episode" preview at the end confirms this, because that material looks a lot less familiar.)
I kind of reminds me of the way I felt when seeing the first few episodes of "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood." It started as a faster paced retread of the original series, but now "Brotherhood" is so different from its predecesor that you're able to enjoy it on its own terms without constant mental comparisons. I suspect these "Evangelion" movies will be the same.
I just got it and am bout to watch it :D
i know this is going to be insane!
Bk0000- I hope your right the first dvd just streamlined the episodes together leaving out a lot of the comedic scenes and back story of some of the charachters. This isn't to say that I htink that the remake isn't good I actually enjoyed it but if things have stayed the same throughout again many people will be disapointed.
Well as long as it dosne't end like the series did.......which was confusing. It might hold up better than dropping the ball for a third time.
