After a month or two of silence, expect a new title and a second trailer for the JJ Abrams-produced 1-18-08 film very soon. A source over at Comingsoon has indicated that this second trailer will be attached to the November 16 release of BEOWULF, another Paramount distributed film. Not much information is known about this upcoming monster movie other than it was inspired by Abrams visiting Japan and the Godzilla mythology created by Toho. It stars Michael Stahl-David, Odet Jasmin, Mike Vogel and Lizzy Kaplan. It was written by Drew Goddard and directed by Matt Reeves.

I can only hope that there will finally be an American Kaiju type of movie that is worthy to be mentioned in the same sentence with the immortal and legendary Big G (GODZILLA)

I have heard everything from this movie being a reinvention and not a continuation of the Zilla monster - to a Godzilla Movie - to a Cthulu type of movie to even a brand new type of monster to appear squid like or whale like.

The only thing that I know is that Japan is making their own version of this - a sort of spin off titled "TOKYO" i think - it has a poster of a massive squid tearing down a large japanease building!

Beowulf will be cool but I am so looking forward to the new 1-18-08 trailer!

J.J. please don't let us down and just make a great Kaiju Movie for the real giant monster fans!

See you all there!

I would put King Kong in the same sentence with Godzilla and I might even put him ahead of her.
As for this movie I don't think a giant squid would be too original, especially after watching The Host. I'm hoping for something completely new.

I wouldn`t put Kong in the same sentence. King Kong, both versions were basically love stories while Godzilla was strictly, I`m coming through your town causing havoc, because I`m bigger than you and I can. And I`m not talking about that crappy Devlin and Emmerich version.

Figures that Paramount would give all the geeks something new to discuss about 1-18-08 since no news has been out in a while. Now it would REALLY rock if a new Iron Man trailer debuted with Beowulf as well, but I suppose the teaser that's already out is still too new.

All i can say is that since Transformers I have been jacked about this Abrams project... I like the viral campaign, I like the secrets, I like the concept of a good old fashioned monster movie, and I really like the concept about the movie being pieced together footage from camcorders.... it should add a creepy realism.... can't wait.

Yeah Kong is an American Kaiju - but Kong is in my opinion extremely boring and lacks the straight forward destruction that Godzilla, Anguirus, Ghidorah, and the rest of Toho's legendary creations bring.

Look - when you go to see a Godzilla film - you know what to expect - a massive cool super monster(s) destroying everything which to me makes it extremely fun!

Who are the stars in the G films? Not the actors the Kaiju are the stars and that is an element that makes it so fun!

In any event this whole viral campaign is cool and 38 year old Military Veterans / Prison Guard geeks like me are hoping for nothing more than an American Kaiju (Giant Monster) movie that is not just simply an over grown ape with a hard on!

Squid, Whale, Cthulu, Zilla or the Big G - it dosen't matter - I will be there to see it!

Star Trek has its trekkies and Real Godzilla fans have the equilivant.

I would pick a Giant Monster movie over a lunatic slasher flick any day of the week and twice on Sunday!!!

Us Kaiju "GEEKS" love our giant monsters!

See you all at the show!

Man I was at the Chicago red line subway station yesterday in Chicago and I looked up to see a bill board featuring Angelina Jolie's Grendal's mom character and I almost whipped it out for a little bit of self love if you know what Im saying. But it was rush hour and I figured I d save the laughs for Improv but the point is Angelina oh Angelina you make me feel do good.

I am putting my money down as this film being a tribute to Godzilla. The Cthlulu mythos is possible, but not as appealing to mainstream audiences...or executives.

There have been rumors of it being some sort of giant whale. I think that there may be something possible here. What could happen is a G-tribute and they went for a Whale-Ape, just a what Godzilla's name means.
The sequel will have it taking on a giant flying snapping turtle in Louisiana...
