New ALIEN or no ALIEN?

Two movie websites are reporting different stories about this fall's re-release of Ridley Scott's 1979 horror movie ALIEN. One site backs up yesterday's report from FilmJerk that Scott's film will now include deleted scenes not seen in the original '79 release while another site claims no new footage will be inserted in the movie.

First, let's heard the word from the pro side of the debate. According to a scooper submitting to Coming Soon, twelve minutes of deleted material will be included in the ALIEN re-release. The CS scooper claims to have been part of a survey group asking if they would be interested in seeing the classic in theaters once again.

But on the negative side of the camp is the Creature Corner website. The fine Corner folk say their sources have put the kibbosh on talk of new ALIEN scenes in the re-release, and that there's no truth to the CS or original FilmJerk rumors.

Our own source who first alerted us to the ALIEN re-release wasn't made aware of any additional footage to be included in the '03 release, but they also weren't told much about it except when the film was coming out, when to expect the trailer and that it was happening.

Fox has yet to release an official comment shooting down the extra footage rumor.
