It seems they're taking a page from the Spectacular Spiderman cartoon that used to be on DisneyXD. I love it and everything I've heard so far. For some reason I think this will be the surprise comic book film of the summer because it seems that it's being largely ignored due to The Avengers and TDKR if not outright dismissed.

 I believe the "Peter's parents held a secret" was a story from over a decade ago in the comics.  They unexpectedly returned.  Never knew how that story ended.  They are definitely trying to seperate the movies by repeating "the untold story".  I hope it does surprise, but it isn't one that has me anxiously waiting its arival. I hope they can pull off a Batman Begins.  I'd certainly like to see the Green Goblin done right.  What a waste he was in the movie.  Devoe looks like the Goblin.  Add a little makeup and let the guy act.  Instead he was a Power Ranger.  

Of course it's been ignored....it's a remake of something that shouldl'nt have been made in the first place...

From the trailers I am really liking the darker tone of this movie over the others. I will give it a shot.

My interest in this is growing, but only slightly.  Will be good to see the Lizard, and hopefully this will be a good flick.  Still don't know if I'll go see it in the theatres.

As for the costume, I don't hate it as much as I originally did, but I still don't particularly care for it.  (It is even kind of hard to see the big spider on his back).  However, if that is my biggest complaint about this movie, I'll be delightfully surprised.

 I really love the look of the pic of him swinging. I can tell this film will be better..... I just can....

I still don't like the mechanical webshooters tho. Haha

 Um, I believe that final image is of Campbell Scott, NOT Rhys Ifans. You might want to correct that.

@jedi, just curious. Are you saying that Raimi's Spiderman shouldn't have been made? I think Raimi's Spidey was pretty awesome, it was his spiral into goofy/singing/dancing Spiderman that doomed him in my eyes with his sequels

Or are you saying that this remake shouldn't be done? Because well I just have to disagree, especially since they are telling a brand new tale and Raimi IMO screwed up the franchise to the point that it's better to start over.

Especially adding the essential mech. web shooters, right violator? :)

 I agree with Wiseguy the first 2 spidey movies were great the last one was a turd - I truly think Rami did the 3rd film that way to get back at the studio for making him cram all that crap into the movie; spidey, brock/venom, sandman, harry/goblin, mj, gwen and hell even doc connonrs was in it.. 

I am hoping for much better with this movie but I'm thinking that they are trying to reach a much broader demographic with this movie and to me the trailer hints that they are trying to reach that (man..., it hurts to say this) twilight demo so the youngins can take there girlfriends with them to the movie.

Really aegrant? I hope you're wrong. The vibe I was getting is more leaning towards a darker tone ala Nolan's Batman, which IMO isn't a bad thing as long as you embrace the fantasy aspects which given Spidey's powers and the Lizard being the big bad in this one is a given.
