Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios have unleashed the latest trailer for The Avengers online courtesy of Apple iTunes. Check it out in HD Quicktime here. As you'll see when entering their official page, there's also international versions for Canada and Australia (the Australia one runs a few seconds longer). Sound off with your thoughts down below.

The summer tentpole stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson and Stellan Skarsgård. Director Joss Whedon penned the screenplay.

Plot Concept: Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in "Iron Man," "The Incredible Hulk," "Iron Man 2," "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Marvel's The Avengers" is the superhero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as SHIELD, finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

Marvel's The Avengers flies into 3D/2D/IMAX theaters on May 4, 2012.

I just got a bad case of the chills watching this!  I cannot wait for this damn movie to come out.  I'm convinced it's the Skrulls now.  I have no proof or basis but it has to be.  Just the few scenes of the Big 3 together and that shot of the Hulk grabbing IM out of the air was sweet.  Box office winner this year.

I got to check this out at a sneak screening of John Carter last weekend. Looks great. Still can't really tell who Loki's horde is but I like being surprised while I'm watching.

Wise and anybody else who's interested, John Carter was good. I think in less capable hands it could have been corny as hell but it was good. I'd give it about 3 out of 4 stars. I predict it will cap out on rt at about 80-70 percent but who knows. One thing I learned, not surprising, but just how much modern scifi fantasy owes to the John Carter series. If you think about it the book was written in 1917 but because it hasn't really been in the public eye that much other than a few comics here and there, it was like a little secret gem that people kept mining for ideas. One thing I think I can definitely tell is where the Avatar sequels might go just based on the ending of Carter. Avatar among many others owes a lot to Carter but in Carter film I thought the characters were a lot more fleshed out.  I agree with a few reviews I've already read that if you could somehow combine Cameron's epic scope and action of avatar with Stanton's character development of john carter you could have something close to a modern masterpiece. Hopefully though it will do well as they definitely left it open for a sequel. Was going to let you guys know but there wasn't a damn box office recap article this week.

monkeyfoot - I couldn't have said it any better.  I tried, but for some reason my comment wouldn't post.  Still, bravo!

Man - that was awesome. If anybody says that sucks then they have no soul. Not saying it's perfect but what is. *psst - I actually thought it was*

Shac - Yeah, Ed Brubaker is huge fan of Jon Carter on Mars and he said that the movie blew him away. I'll take the word of a reknowned writer than these punks who just bitch all day on the internet about small details about licensed characters.

Color me quite impressed. Especially enjoyed the scene of Hulk catching the falling Iron Man.

 .....i am....ummm....what I am trying to say....

Iron Man vs. Thor vs. Captain America in the woods.  Hammer on Shield contact.

Loki talking trash to Fury.

The Hulk catching Iron Man on the side of the building was totally unexpected.  Just like the Leviathan at the end of the clip.
