New CLOVERFIELD Site Online

If you caught the TRANSFORMERS movie, then you saw the first trailer for JJ Abram's upcoming CLOVERFIELD monster movie set in NYC. Actually, we don't even know if that's the name for the movie. Earlier this week, AICN revealed that the domain name for cloverfield.com was directing to Paramount's movie page (now, it's just a white screen). There's also reports that the extras shown in the trailer have revealed that "Cloverfield" is not the name for the movie, just a filming project name.

As I said before, this movie is one of the best kept secrets in recent memory. Nothing much is known other than it being a monster movie and JJ Abrams is producing it and its setting is NYC.

Tonight, I was curious so I just hit 1-18-08 in my url bar and sure enough a new site has gone online in connection with the movie. All it shows is a snapshot (pictured to the left of this article) and has a date timestamp for the photo. I guess it's better then cloverfieldmovie.com being just a white screen. Perhaps, they'll do something with this new website soon. It's something to keep track of at the very least.

Here's the new website.

1-18-08.com

Also, just for your knowledge. Someone who was obviously attempting to bootleg TRANSFORMERS filmed the trailer and uploaded it to youtube. I won't provide a link because it's illegal. Paramount took down IESB for a day just for publishing an Iron Man video. Just go to youtube and search "Cloverfield trailer". You'll see it. Quality isn't very good.

Once an official trailer has hit the web courtesy of them, I'll provide the official link.

Curious on what you Maniacs are thinking about this film. I've been hearing a lot of speculation that this is an ultra secretive GODZILLA movie. Not sure about that speculation being anywhere near correct but it is an interesting theory. The secrecy surrounding this film is unreal.

Saw this lovely before transformers, it was the first trailer I've seen in a long time that carried such a strong sense of real dread, I found myself on the Edge of my seat... I forgot what movie I wasthere to see, hoping the trailer would keep going... I know it's just a trailer but talk about effective..

Yes, it was an amazing trailer. I'm looking forward to that one, but hope it isn't filmed like the trailer was the whole time. Though I guess that has worked before.

Kick ass trailer!!! The intensity totally came out of left field and caught my off guard. It was the only decent trailer I saw when seeing Transformers last night aside from The Simpsons Movie, but it was worth it.

An amazing trailer. It's been a long long time since a trailer caught my attention like this. Made me feel like I was part of the panic and frenzy.

Great marketing, the whole theatre I was in was buzzing about the trailer. I pray it is Godzilla. Looking forward to this and all the secrecy makes it even better.

According to an article on DarkHorizons.com, AICN reported that the entire movie will be shot using home video camaras from random view points to give the film a gritty and realistic view, and also the monster is called 'The Parasite'.

I may be TOTALLY reaching here, but did I hear someone in the trailer mention a lion?? Could that mean Voltron? I don't know, maybe I was just awash in 80s toy memories and my thoughts were elsewhere. The trailer was awesome, I actually spent the first few minutes of the Transformers movie thinking about the trailer still.
