CrossGen Comics has hired inker Matt Ryan to work over the pencils of current associate penciler Fabrizio Fiorentino. The team is scheduled to take on a title of its own sometime in early 2002.
Ryan has already relocated to Tampa from Alabama and is currently working on MYSTIC #17, Fiorentino's relief issue.
Ryan is a 1993 graduate of the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art.
Immediately upon graduation he landed the job as inker of Marvel Comics' X-MEN over fellow alum, Andy Kubert. The two worked together on that title for more than two years. Ryan has also worked on DAREDEVIL, SILVER SURFER and BATMAN: LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT.
"Matt's an extremely talented inker and an all-around nice guy," CrossGen publisher Mark Alessi says. "X-MEN is the best-selling title in comics and we're very fortunate to have someone with his skills working with one of our outstanding new pencilers. They're gonna be a helluva team."
It's a great opportunity to come and work at CrossGen," Ryan says. "Fabrizio is a great talent and someone to watch for in the future. I think the two of us make a great team and I'm looking forward to being part of the creative process every step of the way. That's a luxury I was not afforded while working on X-MEN."
