New DARK KNIGHT Trailer, New Villain for Third Film?

Nothing says The Dark Knight better than Dominoes Pizza? Well, that's the current site promoting a little extra goodies for Bat fans eagerly awaiting the sequel. A new trailer with extra footage has popped up online called The Dark Knight Vault, which you can watch by clicking here.

In other news, as fellow Maniac Hanso "aka The Joker" passed along, both Gary Oldman and director Christopher Nolan talked briefly with MovieWeb on possibilities of a third installment. Both were vague on whether Nolan would be returning to direct the third film in the franchise at this point of time. That's not surprising. No director wants to talk about jumping back in before the second one even hits theaters. They need a break. But Oldman did hint at a new villain that could be the headliner for the next film. To read what he said, click here. Thanks Hanso!

The upcoming sequel stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. Director Christopher Nolan led the production, based on a screenplay that he co-wrote alongside brother Jonathan Nolan.

Plot Summary: "The Dark Knight" reunites director Christopher Nolan with star Christian Bale, who returns to continue Batman's war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger), who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces the Dark Knight ever closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante.

The Dark Knight will hit IMAX and standard theaters July 18, 2008.

The Riddler would allow for Nolan to show Batman's detective side even more than what they will show in The Dark Knight. I wonder what the hell would Nolan come up with for Riddler, I doubt he would have him wearing a green suit with question marks on it, he would have him in green though.
If he picks Riddler, I think Nolan is basically giving Joel Schumacher a big FU!, and making the fans forget about Batman Forever, lol.
If the Dark Knight is influenced by The Long Halloween, which the Riddler pops up in, we might see him in this movie as a set up for the next Batman. Plus, the sequel to Long Halloween, Batman Dark Victory, also has The Riddler in it. I say sweeta!

I think Black Mask, although lesser known, would be a great villain for Nolan's universe and it would keep with the mob theme that's been running Gotham. Don't know if the mob will be played out after Dark Knight though.
Anyways, Black Mask's ties to Wayne could be brought up, he has his own gang to battle the Bats. They could have him moving up trying to seize control of the Gotham Underworld after the events of Dark Knight. Plus, he's a more real villain so it goes with Nolan's Batman reality.

Bring in a Nolan alumn, Guy Pearce for the role of Riddler or a guy once rumored for the Joker role, Paul Bettany.

I gotta say that the Riddler isn't a bad choice for a villan in the third i personally wouldn't mind seeing Clayface but..... then again i don't know if i could deal with some cheesy fx for this new Batman we have......

At this point Nolan can do whatever he wants. Somebody needs to give Schumacher the big FU! Jagoff. Just saw an interview w/ Gary Oldman and he flat out says the Heath's Joker is the greatest movie villain of all time. Which is a pretty strong statement coming from a man who's made a very comfortable living playing some of Hollywood's more memorable scumbags/creeps/bad guys for the past 25 yrs. If I said it once I've said it a million times: I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT FUCKING WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE!!!!
