Can't wait to see this!

Just a few days after Yahoo Movies unleashed the latest poster for Neill Blomkamp's District 9, the website has revealed the new trailer. You can check it out in the video player below. The sci-fi film, based on Blomkamp's short, is presented by the director's protege Peter Jackson and stars Sharlto Copley and David James. Neill and Terri Tatchell penned the script for Sony.
You can check out two viral videos and the poster here.
Plot Concept: The story depicts a fictional world where extraterrestrials have become refugees in South Africa.
District 9 will hit theaters August 14, 2009.
Thanks to gauleyboy420 for the submission.
Wow, I was already planning on seeing this, now I can't wait! I hope it's as awesome as that trailer makes it out to be.
Saw this trailer yesterday and it looks wicked. I hope it will be a sleeper hit. Then maybe a studio will pony up the dough to give Halo back to Blomkamp. I'm still not sure how a studio would baulk at making a film with a giant fan base already existing as well as all the action and sci fi fans who would show up. Hopefully if this does really well they'll realilze their mistake and give it another go.
I also wanted to mention that I love the marketing for this film as well. I've seen anti-Alien posters all over the city (Toronto) saying report Aliens to such and such a number (which my buddy called and it answered), as well as Human only signs on bus stops and restrooms. It's pretty clever.
This does look to be a very good movie. I don't see it as completely original, but nothing is. It looks to be a take on Alien Nation, an E.T. allegory for the immigration class of yesteryear and today. It should be no secret why they pciked South Africa. I'm there opening day.
saw original trailer and wasn't impressed.......but after seeing this one i'm pretty stoaked about seeing this....i will definately be there when it opens
I'll just repeat what I said yesterday
My sleeper pick. I love the commercials they're running and their site D-9.com is pretty cool also. I must say that I am getting more excited for this the more I see, can't wait to check it out.
ddiaz, I bet the idea for this film came to Blomkamp while working on Halo. I also believe the reason the studios (it was a joint production) walked away was because Microsoft was making ridiculous demands, at least that's how I remember it being reported. They got too greedy
It looks like a blair witch/cloverfield type of movie ala aliens. That means more shaky cameras again...sigh...
Now that trailer has me very curious to see this movie. Think the premise looks pretty good, something we may haven't seen before...trying to keep an alien race on the planet earth! Usually we are trying to kick thier ass off of the planet.
