New Facts On RE5 Come Out

Capcom has been virtually silent up to now about their upcoming fifth installment in the Resident Evil franchise. Little-to-no information has been relayed other than a few trailers at various gaming conventions over the last two years. Not anymore. The latest issue of Famitsu has published a seven-page packet of information straight from producer Jun Takeuchi.

Some of the details include some more information on leading character Chris Redfield's return after a 10 year void, where all that we know is that he has been battling Umbrella. The only clues from the new trailer is a badge he's sporting that says "BSAA", which according to the latest article, is a new extralegal organization employing Chris. In addition, the producer has pointed out that other than his trusty gun, Chris will be sporting a survival knife and a sniper rifle. Most of his arsenal will be carried on his back throughout the game, with a new single-button switching method for gamers. Chris will also be carrying a lightsource (flashlight?) in some of the game's darker settings like a cave sequence.

While the plot is still being kept under wraps, the overall concept is described as an "escape from a predicament."

The producer was silent on the enemies except to say that they will be neither Zombies or Ganados (the fodder of RE 4). Also, in some of the latest shots shown, the enemies are now representing multiple races even if the setting is Africa, something which has been brought up by fans after viewing the first trailers for RE5 this past year.

Chris won't be alone. He'll have two ladies around throughout the game, one is a blonde in a long, red dress, someone hinted that may need to escape with the title character at the end. The other lady is a darker skinned beauty who will be carrying her own arsenal and will likely be another ally for Chris.

Resident Evil 5 will hit both the Xbox 360 and the PS3.

Sweet! I have been waiting for Chris to come back, man. With the awesome gameplay of RE4 being incorporated, this should be another terrifying, amazingly fun romp through the RE universe.

Though, on the topic of the game's "controversy" in regards to him killing Africans: People need to find something more important to throw a fit over. I didn't hear any one complain when Leon Kennedy went around killing nothing but South American's for two-thirds of RE4. It just makes sense; If Chris is in a small African town, he's going to encounter Africans. If they're the ones infected, well, they're gettin' shot/stabbed/punched.

This society is too damned sensitive.

Yeah, people just want an excuse to bitch or throw out lawsuits here in America. When I lived in Italy I was talking to my Italian girlfriend about someone getting sued and she didn't know what the word meant. When I explained it to her she said that they did no such thing there in Italy and that it sounds like a stupid thing to do. And she meant for anything. I agree.

I think it's because, at least for injuries, that the government takes care of everyone's health care and such if one gets hurt. I also know when you're older they also take care of when it gets to where you can't work so maybe the same if you're injured beyond capacity. I do know they have awesome hospitals they one I was at brought me back to life and saved my left foot. Wow, if that's not off topic I don't know what is.

I love the way RE 4 turned out and RE5 looks promising as frick. It actually made me fart as I crapped rather than the other way around when I first heard about it. Hey, I like reading on the toilet. I think they should of kept as just Africans if that was the way it originally was why bow down to all these mofos? God, I hate the world right now.

Well however this game turns out I'm glad for MrJawbreaking that he was on the shitter when he first heard about it and not in an elevator.

Don't know enough about the story details but on the surface having token whites to populate the African Village for PC sake seems like a pretty stupid way to address any racism charges. Good point about the Ganados rudewordsmith.

Regardless of all that – GIMME! Love this series!!!!

I wish that they would remake the original games for the wii using the RE 4 engine. RE 4 remains one of the greatest games ever made, and it's hard to go back to the Abrams tank controls from the previous games, even in the pretty Gamecube remake of the original. The Wii version of RE 4 is the best of both the PS2 and Cube versions, so take those assets and apply them to the original games. Redo the entire series using the RE 4 control scheme. I'm begging for it.
As for RE 5, I have 2 Xbox 360's and a PS3 the likelihood of me not owning this game is exactly zero.

I know the question wasn't directed at me but this is how Kimbo peeps roll son, so I'm gonna answer anyway.

My advice to you sir would be to get your hands on the mighty PS3. I don't know how soon you are thinking about getting one but there is a sweet bundle with MGS4 coming out in June, if you like Metal Gear of course.
Anywho, you have the blu ray player in the system which "very niceeee" like Borat would say, it upconverts regular DVDs and the online gaming is free! The Xbox live is much better but the PSNetwork is making strides and for the price you can't beat it.
Games are the most important and the 360 does have more but with time this also will level out, the PS3 hasn't been out as long plus Sony has a nice lineup coming out this year.
If I'm not mistaken the PS3 can output 1080p, not sure about 360. Also, the 360 has those Red Rings of Death issue and trust me that sucks. It happened to me twice. Don't know if they've been able to fix the newer models although Microsoft did extend the warranty concerning that particular issue.

My brother's got 360 and he's on his FOURTH in two years. Just returned one again about 2 or 3 weeks ago. One time was the rings of death and the other two times were different issues. He finally threw a little more at it and upgraded to the 'Elite' black box or some shit. Last time he was returning one the dude switching him out said they never get the black ones returned. I think it's the 120GB version.

Someone was also telling me they're planning on releasing a 120GB PS3 version but I haven't heard anything with regards to a when or a price. Don't know if I can go without GTA4 long enough to wait for it.

If this were still a PS game there'd be no question for me on which to get. RE & SOCOM are must haves for me and SOCOM will be PS exclusive I believe.

Most people I know have the XBox though, so that's a factor so I can play with the peeps. Both are so damn expensive it's a tough call.
