New French Trailer for Diesel's BABYLON A.D

By: Jarrod Sarafin
Date: Thursday, May 01, 2008

The first teaser trailer for Vin Diesel's upcoming sci-fi action thriller Babylon A.D has popped up online. It's in French but since it's the first teaser video for the film, it's worth passing along. The film stars Vin Diesel, Gérard Depardieu, Michelle Yeoh, Charlotte Rampling, Mark Strong, Radek Bruna, Melanie Thierry and Lambert Wilson. Director Mathieu Kassovitz led the project, based on a screenplay by Eric Besnard, which is in turn based off the Maurice G. Dantec novel.

Click here to check it out.

Plot Summary: A veteran-turned-mercenary (Vin Diesel) agrees to escort a woman from Russia to Germany, not realizing that she's the host for an organism that a cult wants to harvest into a genetically-modified Messiah.

Babylon A.D will hit theaters August 29, 2008.

Well that showed a helluva lot of nothing. I was kind of surprised to see Iron Man opening in France before it does here though. Not that that has ANYTHING to do with this trailer.

Well, that was a whole lot of nothing. The shots went way too quickly. I guess the French have better eyes than I do. I`m sure I`ll see this because I like Diesel when he plays characters like this and movie almost looks like Chronicles of Riddick 2.

I guess the French don't like people talking in their trailers. They also must like their trailers super short since over half the video is some dude talking and introducing the trailer. I'm kinda surprised this is coming in August because I could've sworn the original release date was supposed to be Feb 2009. No complaining though because it could make for a fun ride of a movie.

Can't tell much from the teaser, but if I had to make a viewing decision based on that I'd pass. There was nothing in that teaser that would make me want to see the movie.

I'm an easy sell for these sort of flicks. It has my interest despite the french douche introducing the piece.

That french douche is the director.
I kinda like it,it's sort of refreshing after all those "let's show the whole movie in 3 minutes" trailers.
It leaves something to the imagination.

OK I have to finally say this new site design is the worst design I have ever seen. It is totally too busy and you can't find what you are looking for and it totally ugly. I hope they change it soon.

Not to mention that it totally doesn't work in different browsers and OS's. Takes about five minutes for the opening page to load in Ubuntu using Opera, and that ridiculous animated ad shoves half the main page off the right side of the screen (sideways scrolling is right out!). After one run-through I started ad-blocking everything just to actually make the site readable and load properly... not the result they're hoping for, I expect...

That was the worst teaser ever....Hey everybody lets watch Vin walk around....Oh joy.

Okay, granted the director was speaking in French in his intro, but at about the 00:16 mark it sounds like he's referring to the movie as a "futuristic comedy." Anyone else catch this? This could be disastrous if I heard him correctly, especially given everything else we've heard sounds like it's supposed to be a dark action film.
