Tons O' GHOST RIDER Photos on The Web
Edward Mazmanian's outstanding Marvel Movies Facebook page has been dropping a ton of photos and videos from the shoot of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The film stars Nicolas Cage and is directed by the Crank team of Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine.
The latest set has a close-up look at the weathered (and possibly burnt) motor cycle that Nicholas Cage's Johnny Blaze has been seen riding around on. We've previously identified the bike as a modified Star Vmax. We're not sure if this is truly the "Hell Cycle" version that Blaze's alter ego will ride. We'd expect that it'll be modified further by CGI effects.
More intriguing are photos of a figure wearing white-face makeup and sporting a leather jacket with dots all over it. It's unclear from the quality of the photos if those dots are metal studs or not, but there's some speculation that they could be reference dots used in the motion capture of an actor's performance. That would suggest it's Nic Cage wearing the white-face as part of his mo-cap performance of the Spirit of Vengeance. On the other hand, this character's jacket looks kind of puffy compared to the svelte riding leather Cage is seen wearing in other images. But again, if this is Ghost Rider then his entire appearance could change.
Co-Director Brian Taylor previously touted the fact that Cage would play the flame-skulled hero of the movie this time around, rather than leaving the mo-cap to stunt players.
"Zarathos is the spirit of vengeance that inhabits John Blaze when he becomes Ghost Rider," Taylor said, stating what most fans already know. However, he went on to reveal something new. "Unlike the 1st movie, where the Rider was stiffly acted out by a various stunt guys, Nic will be playing all the Ghost Rider stuff himself – and we are creating a whole physical language for the demon that is different from the human Blaze."
Indeed, in one of the photos the white-faced rider is seen with Blaze's bike.
We're still over a year a way from Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance which arrives in theaters in February, 2012.
What do you think, Maniacs? Do we like Cage's bike? Are we psyched for GHOST RIDER 2? Post your comments below...

I am enjoying the Smallville parade as it goes into the sun set. I wish the Darkseid story had more going at this point.
Young Justice is a fun guilty pleasure. It's fun to watch with my 11 year old and have believe that I am a DC/MARVEL fountain of knowledge.
Ghost Rider was an okay movie. I would like to believe that they learned from the first one, and I hoped they did listen to some of the things that were said. I expect this movie to be pretty fun to watch.
Still looking forward to Sucker Punch. I won't be taking my 11 year old to see that one.
That guy seems to have a pot belly, Nic is pretty slim so either it's a new character or his stunt double me thinks. I do prefer the overall style of the bike better than the first movie. I'm looking forward to this but the guys directing are keeping my expectations pretty low.
Young Justice is pretty cool so far. This time around it isn't Robin that's the a-hole with the Batman personality, now it's Speedy and Superboy. I'm digging it though
Smallville is back baby. Can't wait to read Joe's review. I think the back and forth on the reviews are almost as entertaining as the show itself. Get up Osterle, your vacation is over
Well he has all of Superman's powers and infrared is usually one of them. Although some of his powers are supposed to develop over time if I recall correctly
If they can stick to the comic books this time, I'm up for another Ghost Rider. I thought the Crank movies had some really unique shots and effects that would work great with a comic book movie. 'Gamer' blew, but, they can't all be winners.
SMALLVILLE: cant wait for Smallville to return and take us into the home stretch. im expecting the remaining season to rock.
Young Justice, still waiting for it to get good, but it has potential, they really need to stop with the Laughing robin , and the stupid word play with him as well , i get they want him to have a stick but its stupid.
Ghost Rider: cool bike if I was joe average and I had a custom ride , but its pretty fn lame for ghost rider's cursed hog. this better not be it , of course it may well be and im not that surprised considering they look like they are filming Dead presidents 2 .
havent caught any of young justice but wouldnt mind seeing an epsiode or two. I loved all the other animated incarnations from the 80s
Ghost ridder I hope thats not the actuall bike ghost rider is using and that this one is what it looks like before ghost rider morphs it into the actuall bike
Young Justice has been entertaining so far. I want to see where they go with it.
Calibur - I was thinking kind of the opposite on the GR bike. It would work as Blaze's normal bike, covered in ash and soot while transforming back from the, as LocoLobo called it, "Cursed Hog". Then, as he rides, the charcoal flakes off to reveal the paint job underneath.
Smallville - I've enjoyed this season up to now. Can't wait for this last stretch.
Supes also has Microscopic Vision, but I am unsure as to what level. I do recall a Byrne issue where he could see on the cellular level. Now in the old days his powers were off the charts. They seem to be creeping back in that direction...
