The marketing blitz continues for Warner Bros. Pictures' upcoming summer tent pole Green Lantern, with the studio revealing their ninth TV spot on the small screen. A video clip of the TV spot can be viewed down below. The action-adventure stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, Tim Robbins, Temuera Morrison, Jay O. Sanders, Taika Waititi, Jon Tenney, Geoffrey Rush and Michael Clarke Duncan. Helmer Martin Campbell led the direction, based on a screenplay by Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Goldenberg.
Plot Concept: In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Reynolds). Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax...he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.
Green Lantern arrives in 3D/2D theaters June 17, 2011.
1. I think this needs to be a solid 2:20 or more runtime. There's just too much scope they are showing in this preview and anything less than 2:20 will feel rushed.
2. With each passing preview, this film is growing on me and looks like it's going to be a major force.....until Transformers 3 shows up.
and Raa, I've noticed they seem to load up the night before now, maybe that's why it seems late
Lookin' awesome. Still have some minor concerns about Reynolds as Jordan, but I'm holding faith that even if he is a little goofier than comic book Hal, it can't take away from the rest of what looks to be an outstanding film. DC might finally get one right.
Marsha, I dig it. It sounds all primal. Reminds me of the Joker in Dark Knight when he's got the pseudo-batman and he screams "LOOK AT ME!!!" from behind the camera.
I thought this looked magnificent in the theater. The big screen just gave it that oomph that you just don't get from a computer screen. Remember when AVATAR's first trailer came out and sort of underwhelmed everyone but once you see it on the big screen, I-Max for me, it just takes on a whole new dimension.
Captainamerica04, what do mean "finally get one right"? where were you when Batman Begins and Dark Knight came out ? Anyway, this movie just keeps looking better and better with each video.
I'll be there opening weekend. Can't wait!
on a side note, yall need help over there at Mania? Been getting stuff up kinda late lately.
