New HD SILENT HILL Trailer

By: News Editor
Date: Sunday, February 05, 2006

Apple.com has recently posted a new HD trailer for SILENT HILL. The film stars Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, Laurie Holden, Deborah Kara Unger, Jodelle Ferland, and Kim Coates.

The story, based on the videogame, centers on a woman named Rose, desperate to find her child Sharon, who finds herself trapped in an alternate dimension as she searches for her daughter in a world of decay inhabited by strange beings. Over the protests of her husband, she flees with her child, heading for an abandoned town to which the child seems drawn. Sharon disappears in the town, and Rose follows what she thinks is her daughter's silhouette into what seems like an alternate reality. It's soon clear this place is not like anywhere she's ever been. It's smothered by fog, inhabited by a variety of strange beings and periodically overcome by a living Darkness that literally transforms everything it touches.

The film hits theaters on April 21st.

Before you start gagging at the fact that this is a movie based on a series of video games, realize that that doesn't necessarily mean this is a bad thing. First of all, the cast and crew are not made up of a bunch of second rate people. Despite what He WHo Shall Not Be Named has done, we have Chris Gans, who has come up with the main script and directed the pic. He may not be that varied, but he has shown he is a very capable director who promises to stay true to the series. The cast is decent and Avery did the dialogue for the script, and he is a very good script writer. The movie is also very true to the series in terms of look, feel, and story, all of which are very good in the game. The trailer makes it look great, even if one isn't a fan of the series. Don't knock it based on the fact it's a game. If you don't think it looks like something you would wanna see, fine, but that doesn't mean it looks bad.

Dude, you weren't supposed to name him! read post #8 You have to wonder how he "who I won't name" didn't get his grubby little paws on this one. It does look cool. They should send him a copy, with a note attached saying that "this is how you adapt a videogame".
