The Last Tease from Tolkien Week

Last week was titled “Tolkien Week” and it was a celebration of Professor J.R.R. Tolkien’s 75th anniversary release of “The Hobbit” book. The highlight of the week was a new trailer for the film that featured multiple endings. That new trailer not only sparked the imagination but reignited the debate as we eagerly wait for December 14th. The last bit of fun to arrive for “Tolkien Week” was a new poster for the film. A poster which echos one of the original Fellowship of the Ring designs (seen below).

The Hobbit arrives in theaters December 14th, 2012.

He should have been holding a ring to mirror it actually.

I disagree...I like the poster...Frodo holding the ring for a Lord of the Rings poster makes sense - that trilogy is all about The One Ring, after all...Bilbo holding Sting reflects the more light-hearted adventure that "The Hobbit" is.

Robert, what is the debate you are refering to?

Hey, Lame is my line, Hanso.  Well, what did you expect a huge picture of Smaug?  I can't wait to see that Dragon.  But yea okay for a teaser poster, but I want more.

When I saw the poster I thought of Elijah Woods and then I scroll down and see him with the one ring, very cool....

stretching this thing out into 20 films has really dampened my excitement for this film.

Anyone else worried that after the three Hobbit movies hit we'll get The Lord of the Rings special edition where they will switch out the flashback scene where Bilbo finds the ring to a scene from the new movies and change every Legolas fight sequence so that he never shoots first? ;)
