With their targeted release just a month away, Lionsgate has rolled out some new TV spots for the highly-anticipated adaptation of The Hunger Games. The studio has also updated their official website with more treats for the fans. Check out the new spots and the recently-released trailer down below.
The sci-fi action tale stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Wes Bentley, Toby Jones, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman, Amandla Stenberg, Donald Sutherland and Stanley Tucci. Helmer Gary Ross led from the director's chair, based on a screenplay he wrote with Billy Ray and author Collins.
Plot Concept: Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one another until one survivor remains.
Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
The Hunger Games fights in 2D//IMAX theaters on March 23, 2012.

Hey CaptAmerica04, don't feel bad about reading the first book. I'm about 2/3 done with the third book. I saw the trailer and figured I'd read the book before I saw the movie. The first book was so good and filled with action and interesting kills and death scenes that I couldn't stop. I hope this movie does so good that they make the whole trilogy of books into movies.
Is anyone else slightly reminded of The Running Man? Granted, HUnger games cannot really be compared to it, but I think a part of the concept is the same. Looking forward to this, it looks awesome
I've never seen Running Man but I just read the Wiki on it and if you're saying Hunger Games is like that because of it being televised then yes but otherwise I don't think it is like it at all. Because if that was the case then you could compare it to Death Race and The Condemned among many others. But this book is televised to show the other districts that the Capitol has the power to do what it wants and if you want to live, you need to pay tribute to the Capitol. Also, comparing it to Battle Royale is even different. Only thing comparable there is that it's children being forced to kill children. But in that movie Kitano said the class was chosen to be punished because they were basically ungrateful rude brats and they needed to be taught a lesson. It wasn't televised. And in this book the Capitol doesn't just kill the kids automatically like BR did with the collars because they refused to kill eachother, the Capitol sends in some sort of creation to make it more entertaining for the people at home and gives the kids a chance to at least try and live. I really hope this movie does well and I think it has serious potential. I'm really looking forward to this because this series was amazing!
I just finished reading the first book. (Yes, I know it's supposed to be for teen girls, but... hey, sue me. It's also really good sci-fi. And none of the characters sparkle, so I'm fine with it!)
It's a really good book. The romance isn't overplayed, and there's a good sense of tension and excitement. The pacing is solid and the characters are all likable. I'm really excited to see this film as a result.
