We've got over 20 photos from July's live-action adaptation of the hit manga 'Blood: The Last Vampire'.

From Samuel Goldwyn Films, 'Blood: The Last Vampire' brings to life an English language live-action feature movie of the original Japanese anime feature film from a producer of 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' and 'Hero'.

Gianna (My Sassy Girl, Daisy) stars in the film as Saya, a 400-year-old demon-hunting vampire slayer working undercover in Japan for a secret organization, on a mission in the Vietnam War era.  The cast also includes Koyuki (The Last Samurai, Always: Sunset on Third Street), Michael Byrne (Beyond the Sea, Gangs of New York), Colin Salmon (Resident Evil, Punisher: War Zone, Clubbed), and Allison Miller (“Kings”).  The film features stunt choreographed by Cory Yuen (Transporter 3, Red Cliff), is produced by Bill Kong and Abel Nahmias, with screenplay by Chris Chow.

'Blood: The Last Vampire' opens in theaters July 10th. For more info about the film visit the official website, the Facebook page or the Myspace page.

I saw scenes similar to the anime but I am wondering if they are also taking groundwork from the blood series.

It looks pretty good for a movie based on anime (dragonballs anyone?) I am a fan of the series and I did like the anime movie (even if the plot was a little sparse) so I will go check this out.

I'm definitely down with this. I'm a huge fan of asian cinema and I own the anime movie of this. It was really good although very short. The tv series was decent a little slow though, but this movie looks promising. Especially for an anime adaption.

I don't know anything about this manga, but it looks and sounds interesting.

I have to say, campy and even stereotypical as it is, I applaud the filmmakers for putting the character in the school girl outfit.  Not out of any perverse fantasy (though we all know that certainly plays into it's original presence in manga and anime), but because I'm sure it's in this manga, too.  I applaud the filmmakers for (I assume) remaining accurate to source material.  In an age of organic webshooters and mutants in black leather, I'm glad that some comics-to-film adaptations are being given a serious attention to detail and accuracy to source material.
