The long-awaited WWII action flick by Quentin features an ensemble cast which includes Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Melanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Daniel Bruhl, Eli Roth, Samm Levine, B.J. Novak, Til Schweiger, Gedeon Burkhard, Paul Rust, Michael Bacall, Omar Doom, Sylvester Groth, Julie Dreyfus, Jacky Ido, August Diehl, Martin Wuttke, Richard Sammel, Christian Berkel, Sonke Mohring, Michael Fassbender, Mike Myers, Rod Taylor, Denis Menochet, Cloris Leachman, Maggie Cheung and Samuel L. Plot Concept: The story begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.

Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as "The Basterds," Raine's squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own...

Inglourious Basterds will hit theaters August 21, 2009.

from teh 2 previews I have seen - I like it. i wonder how long it is though? cause sometimes QT's movies drag on a bit (ex Kill Bill 1 & 2 -  the first kicked ass, the second dragged on  for a while)

Agree aegrant, but I still enjoy everything he has directed to date.

To answer your question and a bit more, the movie was reportedly close to 3 hours long. But it received mixed reviews at Cannes. Since then TWC, which has North America distribution rights, has run into financial problems. So one way for them to make extra money was to request that Tarantino edit the film down which = in more showings and more cash under the guise that the request was spurred by the mixed reviews and not the cash problem. Running time hasn't been determined yet as far as I know though.

Thanks to Nikki Finke for that bit of news a couple of weeks back

Looks like a helluva ride!

Can't say that I mind ultra violent movies.  Some are very cool, but it seems to me that some times they are ultra violent just to be ultra violent.  The last Rambo was that and I didn't care for it.  Just seemed forced.  Hope this movie doesn't do that.

As for the movie, this trailor is way better than the last.  That said, I love WWII movies.  Haven't seen too many I didn't enjoy.  This movie does not excite me though.  I'll probably go see it, but Defiance and Valkerie (spelling?) were two movies I was immediately excited about.

As for Tarantino's films, some are good, some are bad.  I agree that the first part of kill bill was way way better than the second, and as I loved PULP FICTION, I haven't loved anything since.  Not to say they were bad.

The thing with Kill Bill was that it was forced into 2 parts. Instead of being a great 3 hour film it was turned into a 2 parter. A lot of stuff that probably would've stayed on the cutting room floor was kept to make 2 films. That's why the 2nd part dragged a bit. Having said that I still loved it.

Tarantino gets a lifetime pass from me for doing Reservoir Dogs & Pulp Fiction.  I forgave him for Deathproof, that shit sucked balls.

This movie looks awesome.

kill bill started great and if it had been made into one movie I would have loved it but, vol 2 was boring in many parts. Pulp Fiction is in my top  twenty but the dinner and dancing chapters get skipped every time I watch it. So I hope QT does edit down closer to 2 hours and put the "director's cut" on dvd later.

What I do like about him is he makes his own stuff.  He writes most of the stuff he does.  He is very creative I'll give him his props.

Reservior Dogs - Great

Pulp Fiction - Great

From Dusk till Dawn - Great

True Romance - Great

Jackie Brown - Great

Four Rooms - Great

Both Kill Bills - Great

DeathProof only was bad because Kurt Russell gets beat up in the end by 3 skanks.

Anything he had his hand in like the above rocks.

This movie however is just full of Awesomeness... I repeat AWESOMENESS!  It's the Dirty Dozen on Steroids and alot crazier and ruthlesss.  I can't wait !
