New James Bond song announced

By: Randall D. Larson
Date: Monday, July 31, 2006

A talking point surrounding the release of any new James Bond film is often the title song and this week it was announced that Chris Cornell, who was previously involved in groups such as Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog, has written and will perform "You Know My Name" for the twenty first Bond outing, CASINO ROYALE. The song is added to a canon of hits performed by artists such as Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Tina Turner, A'Ha, Paul McCartney, Garbage and Sheryl Crow. It's fairly unusual for a Bond title song not to be written by the score composer, as most of the previous hits have been penned by the likes of John Barry, Marvin Hamlisch, and David Arnold. Arnold is of course scoring CASINO ROYALE and is in no doubt involved in the production of the song. The film, which introduced Daniel Craig as the new 007, is scheduled to premiere worldwide on November 17.

Chris Cornell has an awesome voice, so this could be pretty good for a Bond Song.

I can't get enough of that movie poster. No smirking Brosnan, no chicks behind him posing - just Jimmy and his gun looking like serious business!
Sometimes the simple things have so much more impact.

TRUE for post 1 & 2.
Muscic world just make me sick. Is he alone on this or as he already ditch his AUDIOSLAVE crew.
Anyway no loyality anymore. Once the remaining big band are gone. An era will be over. As soon as The Rolling stones quit and Then aerosmith, metallica, Bon-jovi and the remainning others who emerged in the end of the 70 and mid 80'S. the big rock bands are over. It is everyone for himself.

I miss Soundgarden, they were so great. And I would not mind another Temple of the dog. He might pull it off, Chris's Music just doesn't fit the Bond type of music. I could just see the Front Credits going to a song like Rusty Cage...

Audioslave are still together.

Audioslave never broke up, and you should listen to some of the softer stuff on their albums if you think Chris Cornell is incapable of doing a song appropriate for a Bond theme. There WAS more than Rusty Cage, you know?

AH yes Bond theme songs...Live an Let Die -Wings sounded much better by Guns N Roses. For Your Eyes Only Sheena Easton-Thank god someone shut her up for good on Miami Vice. A View To A Kill - Duran Duran . The gayest song ever done by a non gay band. Who did any of the Dalton movies? Goldeneye? Ok back on track.. The World is Not Enough - Garbage .I just love Shirley Manson she could sing the Barney Theme and I would go ga ga. Die Another Day from Madonna - Techno Bond NO THANK YOU and that leaves us with Chris Cornell from Soundgarden -Spoonman , Black Hole Sun...Audioslave Coshise...Great Move!! Give Bond Back his balls!!! And I dont even like either of his bands. But he is an amazing singer. Dont expect any soft stuff from him. This will not make up for the re-casting but it will make it a little easier to watch!

You know, my best friend is still foaming at the mouth because Craig is a blonde. Now, my friend is a die hard bond fanatic. I personally like the Connery bond films, but I really don't care about the color of Bond's hair. Is it really that big of a deal with the die hard bond fans. Is it like saying if someone make superman blonde or wolverine bald?

Roger Moore had Blonde hair nobody complained then.and perish the thought Lazenby was from down under!! I still think firing Pierce was huge mistake but what can you do?
