New James Bond song announced
By: Randall D. LarsonDate: Monday, July 31, 2006
A talking point surrounding the release of any new James Bond film is often the title song and this week it was announced that Chris Cornell, who was previously involved in groups such as Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog, has written and will perform "You Know My Name" for the twenty first Bond outing, CASINO ROYALE. The song is added to a canon of hits performed by artists such as Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Tina Turner, A'Ha, Paul McCartney, Garbage and Sheryl Crow. It's fairly unusual for a Bond title song not to be written by the score composer, as most of the previous hits have been penned by the likes of John Barry, Marvin Hamlisch, and David Arnold. Arnold is of course scoring CASINO ROYALE and is in no doubt involved in the production of the song. The film, which introduced Daniel Craig as the new 007, is scheduled to premiere worldwide on November 17.
