Even though we passed along a photo of the new K.I.T.T last month, it's worth passing along again because as fellow Maniac TheCollector writes in his Mania blog, this new set of pictures reveals the car polished and ready to roll for production in KNIGHT RIDER. The producers Glen Larson, Doug Liman, Dave Barton & Steve Shill are switching the central character to a 550 HP Ford Shelby GT500KR Mustang. The show will star Justin Bruening, Deanna Russo, Bruce Davison, David Hasselhoff, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Wayne Kasserman and Greg Ellis. NBC plans to air the two hour movie/pilot sometime in mid-2008.

Plot Concept: Tracer is recruited by his childhood best friend, Sarah Graiman (Deanna Russo), and her eccentric physicist father, Charles (Davison), to join the Knight Foundation, a group committed to counteracting and preventing the damage done by private, covert military contractors. To assist their missions, Charles creates the second-generation KITT, an artificially intelligent car. A shady millionaire approaches Charles to commission a KITT car, and when Charles refuses, he hires a military contractor to murder him and steal the car.

Here's the new look of K.I.T.T...

meh... I'll watch it, I'm a sucker. as long as he has turbo boost, cause if he doesn't (shakes fist, gives shifty look)
I won't critique it (the show) till I've watched a couple episodes. I like a mustang, but I'd have prefered a sleeker car.

K.I.T.T. just doesn't seem quite right as a Stang... Not sure what he should be instead, though. A Charger? Camero? Too bad Pontiac left its bad ass image in the 20th century.

Seems quite right to me, as Knight Industries 3000 (Three Thousand). :)

My only gripe is that instead of William Daniels, the raspy, whispering Will Arnett will be the voice of the new car.

Well, I think the idea of a new Knight Rider series is kind of stupid, but since that ship has already sailed, I`ll say I do like the new KITT. I absolutely love the Shelby GT Mustang and its number 1 on my list of cars to buy if I ever win the lottery.
I still don`t get why NBC is trying to bring back the late 80`s early 90`s with this and American Gladiators. The strike must really be hitting them hard.

Where is a Trans Am when you need one??? And PONYBOY, I happen to have liked American Gladiators. Now if they try to bring back "Challange of the Stars" or "That's Incredible" from the 1980's then I'll go on strike in front of my TV and watch more DVD's or even "GASP" read more.

You really need the red eye to make a kitt car.

It looks like this mustang is getting a lot of work lately... He has played 2 legendary characters. First, he played a Transformer named Barricade and now KITT!!!

And for the record... American Gladiators was the Shiizznit!

Hmm, they made it a Ford...ah well, at least that's one less TV movie / potential show I'll have to keep up with in the future.

Hell, A Suzuki Aerio would have been more appropriate.

Irascable and Dazzler both asked about the red senser. I came across this pic just a bit ago:

You can definitely see the red sensor there.

what chirop1 failed to mention is 1) the red lights on the photo that he found are photoshopped and 2) this article was already covered by Mania a few days ago when they posted pics of the new car and the article CLAIMED the red lights werent working yet so they photoshopped them in.
doesnt anybody actually READ this site's articles anymore or do we get tons of replacment posters with every news article and the original posters leave???
must be... since this was already covered.
by the way, Mania was scooped by Yahoo news... this was covered YESTURDAY over at Yahoo.
