The New K.I.T.T Revealed?

Jalopnik has published what they believe (according to inside sources) to be the next K.I.T.T car for the upcoming KNIGHT RIDER. Their source confirmedt that the laser-lit hood aspect of it is indeed photoshopped for now because "it wasn't working at the effects studio yesterday" . If this picture is true, the producers Glen Larson, Doug Liman, Dave Barton & Steve Shill are switching the central character to a 550 HP Ford Shelby GT500KR Mustang. The new show will star Justin Bruening, Deanna Russo, Bruce Davison, David Hasselhoff, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Wayne Kasserman and Greg Ellis. NBC plans to air the two hour movie/pilot sometime in mid-2008.

Plot Concept: Tracer is recruited by his childhood best friend, Sarah Graiman (Deanna Russo), and her eccentric physicist father, Charles (Davison), to join the Knight Foundation, a group committed to counteracting and preventing the damage done by private, covert military contractors. To assist their missions, Charles creates the second-generation KITT, an artificially intelligent car. A shady millionaire approaches Charles to commission a KITT car, and when Charles refuses, he hires a military contractor to murder him and steal the car.

Here's a glimpse of the new car. For more photos, click the link above.

KITT IS A FORD!!!!! Good lord, i'm not sure but I think that was one of the signs of the coming Apocolypse.

I guess they couldn't use the upcoming Camaro since it was in the Transformers movie. KITT as a Mustang just doesn't seem right, it has to be a FAAAAAAAAAKE!!! Sorry, i'm a DS9 fan, I couldn't resist ;)

So they scrapped the updated Trans Am for KITT that was used in the teaser poster? DUMB. What's wrong with using that prototype for the car?

Actually Mike10 they used a Ford Mustang in Transformers too. But im not too sure about this. I will wait and see. Plus remember guys they did say the car would transform. So maybe they will have 2 different type of cars. Lets wait and see guys before judging harshly. :-)

I think it remains to be seen if this is actually KITT... the article even admits it was photoshopped. No way you can accept this as anything more than rumor, until you see a confirmed, undoctored photo.

Personally, I don't think it's legit. Just look at the text of the article: "...what they believe, according to inside sources..."?? Also, why would they need to make the hood attachment a special effect? Some kid in his Mom's basement is having a huge chuckle because a pic he created is getting such notoriety.

I'm gonna toss this in unsubstantiated "rumor hell".

Thats awesome !!! i have an Eleanor body style on a 2005 gt -- sweet - now i am more a fan of pontiac for KITT but we say barracade as a new mustand in transformers so this is also welcome in my book -- just not classic

DIFFERENT...But not bad, In fact acceptable. I'll admit it took me by surprise (he does look like Baricade) BUT K.I.T.T looks like a meaner tougher BADASS as a shelby. And while I like the K.I.T.T. Trans-Am, I'd never drive a freakin Pontiac

I'm kinda glad; at least they used the Shelby. Though it somehow doesn't look right (if that pic is real). The red lights seem like they should be lower (as an eye instead of a nose). I did always think Trans-Ams (as well as Camaros) were cheesy back in the 80s (moreso now)... but the Trans-Am did look cool as KITT.

Are they calling it Knight Industries Three Thousand now?

Good thing this has no chance of going anywhere besides some Saturday night movie trash.
