For seven long years, Warner Bros has been trying their best to revitalize the Conan Franchise. I remember back in 2004/2005 when they even released a title listing for the long awaited sequel titled KING CONAN:CROWN OF IRON. Arnold Schwarzenegger's choice to replace him at that time had been Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and the Wachoski brothers were looking to helm the project. After the Wachowskis left the project, director Robert Rodriguez tried and was rumored to be the closest one to finishing it. Alas, they failed again and everything fell apart. It was not meant to be for Warner Bros.
When the studio lost the rights to the Conan character (originally written by Robert E. Howard), studios and production companies immediately started looking into scooping up the rights.
Now, New Line Studio is set firmly in the lead to nab the rights to the film.
