New Line Looking For CONAN

For seven long years, Warner Bros has been trying their best to revitalize the Conan Franchise. I remember back in 2004/2005 when they even released a title listing for the long awaited sequel titled KING CONAN:CROWN OF IRON. Arnold Schwarzenegger's choice to replace him at that time had been Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and the Wachoski brothers were looking to helm the project. After the Wachowskis left the project, director Robert Rodriguez tried and was rumored to be the closest one to finishing it. Alas, they failed again and everything fell apart. It was not meant to be for Warner Bros.

When the studio lost the rights to the Conan character (originally written by Robert E. Howard), studios and production companies immediately started looking into scooping up the rights.

Now, New Line Studio is set firmly in the lead to nab the rights to the film.

I know all about the Peter Jackson/New Line cash grab scandal of a few months back and all, still though, I often wonder what a PJ version of Conan would look like. I also wonder what a Sam Raimi version could entail. I know thats just dreaming, but ...still imagine the possibilities. I think its on the same level as "What if Spielberg HAD directed a Star Wars flick when he didn't suck?"....oh the possibilities.

Too lazy to search but what about that toon movie I heard about? That ever come out?

How about Michael Bay? He might be a long shot, but.... of course I'm kidding. Why not get John Milius, the director of the original. That's also a long shot, but better than getting some music video or commercial shooter.

Conan should not be a sweeping epic, hopefully that is not what they are going to go for, it needs to be an adrenaline fueled hack and slash like 300.... hmmmmmmm, interesting.

Never cared for Conan, not really interested in who gets this.
That said, I did enjoy 300, so maybe I could be sold on this...

I loved the first Conan. Loved the Epic part of it and there was still plenty of hack and slash.

Even though I wished they could get a Arhnold King Conan movie made (5 years ago), I'm happy that they're trying to reboot the franchise. Though most S&S is cheesy and lame, I still like the classic ones.

The animated flick ("Red Nails") is still in the works. comicmix.com ran an update on it the other day.

I'd like to see another Conan movie. How about Marcus Nispel to direct/ i liked the look of Pathfinder. Or, what about John Boorman. I watched Excalibur over the weekend and he could give the film a real gritty look. And, I know this is probably an odd selection, but what about Terry Gilliam as director. Think about the look of his films and then think of what he could do with Conan. And, Zack Snyder could probably make a hell of a Conan movie, too.

Conan is a very good concept, maybe they could get John Milius the original director like AlpineWoods said but they vay to go is reboot.
Don`t get Michael Bay please, get Zach Snyder.

Long live the Terminator.
