New Look at Ledger's JOKER

By: Jarrod Sarafin, News Editor
Date: Tuesday, November 27, 2007

Empire Online has been scooped by their own readers and employees. The entertainment magazine planned to unveil the look of the new Joker, the magazine's next coverart, at their website tomorrow. Instead, the new look was passed along to us and quite a bit of sites one day early by people who saw the magazine early.

The new look has Ledger dressed up in his purple outfit while sporting the makeup and his sinister killing smile...

THE DARK KNIGHT hits theaters everywhere on June 18, 2008. The cast includes; Christian Bale (Batman), Michael Caine (Alfred), Morgan Freeman (L. Fox),  Gary Oldman (Jim Gordon), Heath Ledger(Joker), Aaron Eckhert(Harvey Dent), Maggie Glyllenhaul (Rachel Dawes), Anthony Michael Hall, Michael Jai White(Gamble).

Here's the new look...

LOVE IT! Love the clothes, socks, and look. This movie is going to be awesome. Ledger's Joker looks totally psychotic. I can't wait for his portrayal in the Dark Knight.

I'm a bit disappointed with the picture though. I thought we would get the Joker smiling or laughing.

His hands aren't white either, so it looks like he puts the make up on. In the other thread a poster pointed out a quote from Cain stating that the JOker puts on the make up once and then doesn't take it off, that's why he doesn't look that good with them lines, at least compared to Jack's Joker. I kinda miss that whole white look make up they had for Burton's Batman.

I still think he gets dropped into acid cause his right hand is kinda reddish looking, maybe it's just a burn.

08 looks to be a great year for comic films with The Dark Knight leading the way.

P.S. There is something new now up in the why so serious viral campaign. You have to open a vault with the combination. They got the link over at superherohype.com

Looks pretty good. Not the typical Joker we know from various sources, but definitely fits with this new style of Batman lore. To quote this Joker's predecessor: "Nice outfit!" Especially the multicolored socks and beat up old shoes.

I dunno...call me a purist but I prefer the classic duds...still think the movie will blow you out the back of the theatre though!

One word... Perfect!
This is the Joker. In the Batman Begins franchise, they are going for a what if this guy was real feeling, and the very dark, very gritty, very human Batman was perfect, rubber armor and all, and if The Joker, a psychotic killer who's claim to fame is being the clown prince of crime walked off the cartoon strip page and into the world, this matches the frightening images that come to mind, and yet is faithful enough to please.... all signs point to awesome.

That looks very cool. The look is there and if Ledger's performance is up to snuff with the outside appearance, it'll be a home run.

But after looking at this pic, am I the only person who kinda think he looks a little like Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice?

OMG! He's the one standing at the foot of my bed every night telling me to do those terrible things! He told me to shoot! Why didn't you believe me!?!
Double right on to you madmanic! This image exactly fits. So looking forward to this film.

Guess I will be the first to point out the obvious.

It is a picture. In no way does this look like Joker or gives us an idea of what the performance is gonna be. A humanized Batman? LOL! Wow, we what a down to earth Gritty Batman, put nipples on the suit and people have a frickin porcupine.

I stand by what I say. This movie does nothing to spark my interest in the slightest. Heath Ledger as Joker? Nope, do not buy nor do I think he will succeed. The pic looks more cartoonish if anything, how is that "real". He looks more like Chucky than Joker.

YAWN.
