 Few points:

Firstly, this poster is a bit weak. The marketing for this movie has been pretty terrible so far, why they used the music for the lord of the rings in the trailer is beyond me for such a big budget movie. Honestly though, they seem to be going for the same realistic look of the Nolan Batman promotional posters which I didn't particularly love all of them, but the movies in the end were nothing short of spectacular! Usually the film production and marketing team have very little or nothing to do with one another.

Secondly, Zack Snyder is a very talented director, he along with Nolan, Vaughn and Joseph Kosinski are some of the best young new visual directors to hit the big screen in my opinion. I agree that Sucker Punch was pretty bad, but it was one of the few movies that Zack Snyder directed based on original content. He did an amazing job with Dawn of the Dead, 300 and Watchmen. Watchmen is a very difficult movie to bring to the screen and he did it almost perfectly, used the comic as the storyboards and built off that down to the smallest details.

Adding to that, Nolan's Batman movies were based on various comics, not original stories made just for the film, since Nolan has a role as producer in this, if they follow that formula and Snyder has some comics to go off of for storyboards, we could be in for something quite special.

I agree with the fact that almost everybody knows the origin story and it doesn't need to be fully told again, however it has been a long time since it was told on the big screen. I think it is always nice when they manage to give a bit of backstory in a movie that has a lot of source material in a short condensed, clever way and I think Zack Snyder knows how to do this. He managed to show the backstory of the Watchmen in the opening credits, which is a bit more complicated that Superman's backstory as it spans several decades and has a large variety of characters. I think it would be cool to show some really nice city shots on krypton leading to maybe a sequence of Cal-El's ship flying through the vastness of space from the system of the red sun to the system of the yellow sun for the opening credits, something like that.

Lastly, I am happy that Lex Luthor is not the villain in this movie, everybody wants to see Superman threatened on his power level, so we can see what they can make him do with new technology, Darkseid is obvious, but maybe too soon to bring in if they are going for franchise, which I am sure they are. Zod is not a bad choice, but we've seen him and honesly, he's so much talk that he gets a bit dull sometimes. Brainiac seems like he would be a good choice for a reboot, never been seen on the big screen and can be tied into the demise of Krypton. Brainiac's storyline can be tied into so much, Cal-El and even Darkseid.

I wasn't aware that "balls" was a good thing

lazarus 12/5/2012 4:45:37 PM

Wise, would you not miss your balls? I think so. Balls are a good thing. As long as they are your own and not someone elses.

laz, that is a cool ass idea, but it would be like loki in Avenvers going back a looser and now dealing thith thanos..

Yeah lol laz.

It's so many cool ways for Superman to lead into a JL film.  I want Lex Luthor, we need him. He just needs to be a bit more behind the scenes at least at first.

And like DrM said above Krypton's demise and its history can lead to many ways to introduce a good villain for the JL film or Superman sequels. Brainiac and Doomsday being the 2 more obvious, both of which could be pretty awesome IMO.

Well personally I'd watch any Zack Snyder film over the Dark Knight crap fest

As I said before ... MOS is the last throw of the dice for DC (not WB since they have other properties to fall back on) ... I vow to disappear off Mania if it tanks at the BO ...

Haha Wise...You know I'm just bugging you.

I personally don't care if any of you liked Snyder's movies or not.  You can like whatever you want.  I didn't like them but that's just me.  I just like to stir the pot.  But I really do hope this movie is good.  I just don't put much faith in Snyder cause I really haven't liked many, if any, of his movies very much.

End of Man of Steel..... "In a statement by comissioner Gordan earlier today..... 'who is this "super" man? Batman could have used his help in Gotham to bring down Bane."  Clark Kent.... "Who is this Batman? hmmm..... I'll have to meet this person."
