A new MATT HELM movie?

Director wants to dust off fun living secret agent man

After being seemingly put out to pasture when the Cold War dissolved, superspy and ladies man Matt Helm may be getting a makeover courtesy of LEGALLY BLONDE director Robert Luketic. Luketic wants to make a new MATT HELM movie for the 21st century, and wants to make this secret agent different from, say, a certain British secret agent that's also known as a double-oh number.

"It would be a character-based, action adventure-drive franchise of films, unlike comtemporary spy genre films where there really isn't any emotional attachment," Luketic told the BBCi website (via Coming Soon.) "If you remember Spielberg's Indiana Jones, he bled and he was so real, and you were with him during the adventures," added Lukatic. "You really felt peril for him. So I think that's something we want to try."

Dean Martin played the character in the earlier flicks. Lukatic wants someone like Josh Duhamel, one of the stars of WIN A DREAM DATE WITH TAD HAMILTON!, as the new Matt.
