I haven't read anything yet that dates this entry, but I do know that Mel Gibson was 29 in 1985 when Thunderdome was released and Tom Hardy is 34 right now so maybe it's a sequel?  I hope so, I always wanted to believe there were further adventures of Max Rockatansky!

@wish, thanx for that. i hope is based in that time.

Yeah the third pic DOES look like an updated Humungous from MM2, who some people believe was a post crash Goose from the first movie, after he had been treated with steroids...

BunyonSnipe 8/20/2012 6:17:28 PM

Yes, he was 29, but the character was MUCH older, i think it takes place about a decade after Mad Max 2...

Guys, seriously, is it really THAT important to know for an absolute fact just when in the almighty Continuity this takes place? We can't just enjoy it for what it is?

I believe that it's been so long since Thunderdome it doesn't really matter weather where in the timeline this movie takes place.

wish 8/21/2012 5:26:21 PM

Yeah man that shit is important!  Nah we're just curious, but the quality of the finished product will determine our level of enjoyment and not the placement in the the timeline.  Subjectively of course.

I just watched Thunderdome again last night, I forgot Bruce Spence's character has a son so it's been at least 8-10 years since Road Warrior which would indeed put Max in the late 30's early 40's age range.  Who knows where this will fit in the timeline, I guess we'll all just have to show up opening night and then talk the crap outta it on here!!
